P5 and p5r are generational games in the same vein as baldur's gate 2, divinity original sin, skyrim, grand theft auto 3, final fantasy 7, super Mario bros., etc.

I'd argue demon's souls was more influential, but I agree one of those 2 games should be on this list.

The point largely missed by gamers is that dealing with probabilities is part of the skill.

Xcom is the perfect example, sure you can shoot that alien with an 88%chance to kill it, but if you miss, it may come kill you. Instead maybe you run away to set up your next shot so next turn you have a 98% chance. Sure the is luck involved, but the truly skilled players will mitigate the risks associated with that luck.

Yeah, it was like a slap to the face. I remember so many conversations. Gone.

This game is tough, but certainly not the toughest ever.

People are spoiled by games like Skyrim and Mass Effect, where the game almost refuses to let you fail, even if you try.

The game has right and wrong choices. If you make the wrong choice, you are punished for it. Modern game design is full of "you can't be wrong" options. That is not the case in this game, if you want to be an idiot and murder somebody, be prepared to die.

@whynotdairy

That is how every generation is. Go play Disgaea 3 for the PS3. It looks like a PS2 game. In fact I can think of a couple PS2 games that look better, including Final Fantasy XII.
