If worse comes to worst, you can always find a tutorial for disassembly online and you can easily get a replacement UMD drive for around $20 on ebay.

So, does anyone else think that Sony has relegated the PSP Store to the category of red-headed stepchild? Seriously, it's been over a month since any real update has happened!

This year started out awesome for the PSP, but then just petered out to nothing by the end of the year. I got GOW, Flatout, and Patapon , but aside from that, I've been picking up cheap older games to catch up on stuff I missed. I just want to know why the PS Store has crapped out. the ability to access it directly from the PSP is great, but with little to no new content since then, it's annoying. At the very least, crank out PS1 classics! Oh well, at least you can still rip DVD's to the Memory Stick....

The $20 deal is only for people who bought the Arcade or Core 360 and it is through xbox.com. It's due to the fact that the New Xbox Experience is too big to use without a hard drive. It is based on serial number, so you can't just go there and buy one, you have to actually qualify for the deal.

If you hook up your PSP to a PC via the USB port, you can access the Memory Stick and back up the contents. Just make sure that when you back up the main file, you back up the License Data as well, as it contains the DRM info to play the game. Or, you can just redownload it for free, like everyone else said.

I still pick one up every now and then when I can find a deal. Just the other day Toys R Us had a buy one get one free deal, and all of them were $11.99. So I got Pursuit of Happyness and Spiderman for about $6 apiece. Last Year, Gamestop had a $3.99 sale on UMD movies, so I picked up Hellboy and I Robot. But for the most part, I use a DVD ripper and just put the files on a Memory Stick.

Oh for the love, that symbol is for pounds, the main currency of Great Britain! Anyway, 139 is a good deal for the silver Slim with FF (I'm assuming it's Crisis Core). The 4GB Mem stick is a very good idea, if you plan on putting any multimedia on there. As for UMD movies, if you already own the DVD, you can get ahold of software that will rip your DVD to a PSP format video file (mpeg4), thus removing the point of getting it on UMD. monster Hunter 2 is fun, but if you can get God of War, I highly recommend it!

It all depends on whether or not you're looking for a handheld that seeks to recreate the console experience. The entire idea behind the PSP is that it is just that, a portable Playstation. The various other features are nice, but the real reson to get one is for the games, so make sure that you can get your $170 worth in gaming before taking the plunge.

In the end, it's really only your decision whether or not you keep your DS. If you are bored with the games you have and don't see anything coming that turns your crank, don't feel obliged to keep the thing. I find that when I get bored with my DS, PSP, 360, Wii, or Dreamcast, I just play other stuff for a while until I'm in the mood to pick the offending system up and give it a go again. You have to make the choice though.
