"In a cool peek behind the scenes, Jean also revealed that Sheeran recorded his Simpsons lines over the phone from England. "

So he literally phoned it in... great

@Tren2100 I think most of the people who disliked SupCom2 were big fans of SupCom 1/Forged Alliance and/or Total Annihilation... by those standards SupCom 2 was horribly dumbed down.

I personally don't see the need to have multiple tiers of units that become fairly obsolete late in the game nor do I need to add economy micromanagement to make the game feel more challenging, but I guess if I spent a lot of time perfecting those skills and strategies I might be upset that they were abandoned.

The part you are missing is that the game is completed by the time they need a publisher.

In this case, the power is completely in the hands of those people who developed the game. They get to keep their IP where most other publishers will demand control over the IP before they fund it.
That's an excellent reason to go to kickstarter right there!

@Suikogaiden Giving money to a company to make a game you want made is not stupid. Going on a game forum and talking as if you know what you're talking about when you have no clue is what is stupid.

If it's stupid to give a game company money so that they use that to make a game, then every publisher in the world is stupid by your definition.

The only difference is, the publishers will often step in and meddle with the development and will pull funding if they don't like what they see, or will force them to rush a game to completion so they don't have to spend any more.

@Spyre1984 @Sefrix It wasn't the most ever raised. It was the highest GOAL ever achieved. Project Eternity got almost $4 million raised, but their goal was only just over $1 million. Elite Dangerous had a high goal and made it but didn't go significantly over that amount.

I backed both projects and the last week of the Elite Dangerous project was a nailbiter as to whether or not it was going to make it, while Project Eternity was already deep into "Stretch goal" territory by their last week.
