This game is a lot better than this review. I'm someone that plays fps, diablo3, civilization5 etc, and yet I like an adventure story every once in a while. This character (can easily tell) comes from a film called Clerks, a really smart and funny movie. The reviewer obviously missed a few links and the overall hilarity behind this kind of humor. I'm enjoying this game enough to write this comment. Hope more people play this. So far, I didn't have to use hints. It took me about 5-10 minutes to figure something out the few times I got stuck. Hope more people play this.
There is nothing wishful about my hard earned money. And when I'm about to spend them, I depend on professional experts that are hired to help me make an educated purchase.
This is not your local town newspaper, it's a leading company with a lot of traffic. They test and rate products in a 22 billion per year (in US alone) business. They have a responsibility towards me and towards the companies of this market. So they do their job or they go out of business. And whatever you say, I believe they see themselves this way, and they operate accordingly with their staff.
Then we guess you just don't see it. If one is getting paid to provide insight then they should be doing so aside of personal preferences, because they now need to address the interests and concerns of a community in relation to this product. So it is still an opinion, but one that has a group in mind, and carries responsibility towards everyone in the market. Reviewers are professionals, what is there not to see. You pay money for these games as you do for other software, for computers, for cars etc. Fortunately some of these things get reviewed by a professional expert in order to help You.
It feels like many people have adopted a console perspective of hyped polished button-fest and can't evaluate great pc gameplay when they see some. This game is amazing. Suddenly, we compare it to some godlike standards (that we forget when it comes to console franchises) and actually think this review is quite good for giving it justice like that. Disregarding all impossible complexity in game design to reach this far. Putting asside all the diverse endless replayability these changes offer to an already excellent game. I believe this is a solid 8.5 and not that weird 7 we see in some problematic products with interesting ideas.
I think this game is a solid 9. But it has one problem. It came out of kickstarter. Some forces in the industry don't like that. Sorry. It gives me my very itchy fix for real quality rpg. Hope more "interesting" (for lack of a better word) games come out from developers everywhere. Now excuse me, I gotta go enjoy this one again.
