New header and banner...

It is been a while since I changed my header and banner so I decided to do something new this time. I will try to make a banner every month containing most of the major releases during each month so in this case you will find most of the major releases for the month of February while the header will usually contain a picture of the most anticipated game for the month which I presume is Killzone 2 during Feb.

To make things more interesting lets make a little challenge, I want you to count the number of games you can recognize in the image without giving any names (Update: I want you to count the number of the games you see within the banner and state the number of the ones you recognize), just a number and after a while I will announce the correct one including the name of the games. I hope you like the idea and have fun with it ;)

Take care

Poll No.22 + Picture of the day...

Last poll was "If you are given the choice to learn one of these languages, Which one you choose?" and here is a picture of the results

As I expected Japanese was the most popular choice then came Chinese, German and Russian while poor Arabic :( didn't get any choice , it is a hard language anyway, I know because it is mine :D

Anyways, here is a link to the next poll, it is movie related. Check it out.

VIRTUAL HOTTIE OF THE MONTH

SURPRISE OF THE MONTH

Yesterday was the first time I tried this game with my friends and I was really shocked how good and fun it is. You want to compete, cooperate, slap your friends, post stickers on their faces, do silly faces with your characters ...etc. And if you are not satisfied with the offline content you can simply go online and play any of the user created content which are very smart and clever. One of the stages we tried was a simple bowser castle where boswer was waiting for you at the end of the stage . Anyone who owns a PS3 and didn't try this game yet, seriously give it a try specially with your friends ;)

DISSAPOINTMENT OF THE MONTH

I didn't play any game at all

----------------------------------------------

Just one last section before I end my monthly blog, I think you remember my post called MGLB "More Good Less Bad" I wrote at the end of 2008 about my new ideal in life which is doing more good stuff BUT unfortunately that didn't turn so well this month as I didn't achieve any of my January resolutions . Just to sum up my January progress here is a beautiful chart

You will notice that most of my time was spent on the internet and oraganizing my stuff on my PC and it is clearly that I didn't spend any time on good stuff such as reading, studying or excercising. I thought of applying some sort of a punishment system to keep me going , do you have any suggestions ;)
From now on I will add this new section that will be called MGLB :D

Power to the people...

Do you remember my last blog about Internet censoring? After it has been written about in the local press the blockage has been lifted from my favorite site www.deviantart.com and here is a picture from there to celebrate the event ;)

The picture was drawn by *shimoda7

Strangely google translate is still blocked:shock: with no apparent reason, I hope this issue is addressed soon too.

At least for now I'm happy with unblocking the deviantart site :D

Take care

- Ali -

Internet censoring...

Check out this video which shows our government's latest ridiculous decisions.

link

The video simply shows two of the sites blocked by the new censoring system which is applied on all communication companies in the country. I think the video is not clear so I will clarify here.

The two sites shown in the video are

http://www.deviantart.com
http://www.google.com/translate

First of all I will explain why this system was applied. The real purpose of this censoring system is to block political sites that go against the government and to cover this the censoring system was used also to block porn, nude and any disrespectful sites.

deviantart.com is an art community site that artists share their work on and some even sell their's on. So what is the problem then, it contains artistic nude thus it has been totally blocked , remember the great paintings I've been posting for a while, those all from this site. The strange thing is why google translate is being blocked, I was totally shocked to see that, seriously WTF. I don't know if it is a mistake otherwise I don't see any possible reason to block this site.

Here is an online petition that has been signed by more than 800 individuals at the moment and I will post it here for you to keep it up.

I just hope none of you is facing such nonsense in his country, for god's sake we are living in the 21th century .

Passive gamer...

Passive smoking is the act of inhaling cigarette smoke by none smoking persons which is scientifically approved very harmful and can even cause more damage on non-smokers than somkers themselves but do the same concept apply on gaming:?

In my personal point of view I define passive gaming as the act of "inhaling" an amount of gaming without actually playing the game and that of course will be only by watching someone playing a videogame. I'm pretty sure most of you are active gamers but there has to be some moments where you've turned into a passive one.

As for me, I thought of this blog because that happens to me almost all the time because me and my brother live in the same room and most of our gaming activities are within this room, so whenever I play a videogame it is possible for him to be the passive gamer and vice-versa. As we know in case of passive smoking it is considered dangerous and has zero advantages but how about passive gaming?

healthwise, gaming will have the same effect on both and probably less effect on the passive gamer but what is more important is gaming wise, isn't it? Lets see about that, What are the advantages and disadvantages of passive gaming?

A: If you are passively playing a game you already finished before you will find it very fun watching and observing the person playing the game, for example in my case, these days I've been passively playing both "MGS4" and "GTA IV" which I already finished before. In case of MGS4 it was fun watching the cutscenes again and having a more understanding of the game's story and even discovering things that I haven't done on my playthrough. While in case of GTA IV I had the same fun of watching the hilarious cutscenes again and in addition I've been enjoying my brother's very different

playing method which is very violence and funny to watch.

D: On the other hand if you are watching a game you didn't play then you are going to be exposed to spoilers that will lessen the fun factor of playing that game later on which is happening to me right now while I'm writing this blog because my brother is playing ICO and I've seen some puzzle solutions. Even in some cases seeing a lot of that game might make you hesitant to play it later on.

A: A passive gamer that intends not to play the game you are playing can be a very good help and sometimes could be a better observer than you are. My friend for example plays Zack and Wiki with his passive friend gamer who helps him with the puzzles and enjoys it too.

D: There are games that you shouldn't play in front of your friends because they might take your full attention and won't entertain them at all and if you play them in front of your girlfriend they might disturb your relationship . I think first person shooters are the main culprit in this situation as they don't require anything from people watching you, but there might be some exceptions if the game made them laugh :D

There must be more advantages and disadvantages but those were the ones I thought of from my latest passive gaming experience. I will be happy to hear about yours in the comment section and what you think about it.

Finally just a cute picture

That is our cat passively gaming :lol::lol:

Monthly Blog (December Edition)...

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all. I wish you all had a great 2008 year as I did as it was filled with a collection of great games that almost matched the greatness of 2007. I hope 2009 becomes as great as those and that gaming industry continues growing to the better. We already know some of the highly anticipated games of 2009 such as Resident Evil 5, maybe Final Fantasy XIII, Killzone 2, inFamous and some more but I hope some developers stun us with some surprise releases and hope the mighty Nintendo come up with a better lineup for this year. Enough talking and lets get started with my December monthly blog.

First of all, if you became acquainted with my monthly blog you'd know by now that I always start with an image. Although I'm not christian and we don't celebrate Christmas, I believe most of you do, so here is a lovely picture taken by ~lilhyperbabe
