Thank you! :)

Well I hope it is allowed. I don't want to cause any trouble. It's just that, why would GameSpot members should be given the opportunity to run a blog if they can't even talk about it. lol

Hello!

I'm not sure if I'm permitted to do such a thing, but I thought I'd be promoting my blog this week. Lately, I'm running a series of entries on my experience with the original Guild Wars. It's kind of newbie oriented though, since this is my very first MMO game. But I just thought I'd share since I believe it could be helpful to some players. I do my best to make this blog thoughtful and enjoyable, and I'd be delighted to have an audience, which I definitely don't have at the moment.

Besides, my character in Guild Wars is now part of The Illini Tribe, which is a guild now in search of new friendly members. If you're playing the game right now and would like to join us, then click my avatar right here for more info. ;)

Thanks! I hope to see some of you around in the world of Tyria. :)

will this allow me to play the game though?si_wardo

No, Escape from Monkey Island was created for Windows 95/98/2000, it has nothing to do with good old DOS. I last played the game on Windows XP and it worked fine. But as of Vista compatibility, I unfortunately don't know. Just keep in mind that DOSBox, as good as it is, can only run DOS games.

Hope that helps. :)

Ok, anything else I should know?

I'm sure someone around here knows a thing or two. What about Service Pack 2 and DirectX 9.0c? Hmmm, perhaps that version of Windows was never that popular to begin with. But nevertheless, I'm still curious to learn about it.

Well I wish The Force Unleashed was coming to the PC. I don't know that much about the game but I did saw a trailer some time ago and I thought it looked cool.

But yes, I agree, the Star Wars universe is kind of dead on the PC right now. I have fond memories of playing the Jedi Knight series. Those games were so awesome, particularly Raven Software's Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy.

Those were the days... :)

...such as blocking access to the Cheat Consoles of various games. Kiwi_1

Really? That's pretty bad. I'm mostly using Steam for my games though, so perhaps that would help.

For some reason, I've always hated games that are based on movies. Actually, I can't think of anything I hate more than games that are based on movies.

Well, ok, you got me. I admit I did like a couple of Star Wars games some years ago. But that was a long time ago. I was young and naive.

Is this particular version of XP any good for games? Are there any known issues?

Also, I was wondering if it has Service Pack 2, DirectX 9.0c and DVD playback software already pre-installed. I'd appreciate any info. Thanks! :)

I found Unreal Tournament 3's visuals to be completely awesome. But honestly, I think The Orange Box is probably the better game, as far as gameplay is concerned (not to mention that it scales pretty well and performs better as a result, on my system at least).

I am unaware of server activity though.
