Yes, the PS3 is THE most Future proof Blu ray player, period. Its also presently the only 2.0 bluray spec compliant player out there. Every firmware update comes with new Blu ray options it seems, the latest will ad DTS HD sound option which is basically the best sound output period. Get a PS3!

[QUOTE="emitsu97"]There wasn't anything wrong with the SIXAXIS controls.donnygorgas

I agree. I was never confused or frustrated by the controls. Really the only reason I got frustrated with Lair was due to a few poorly designed levels. Overall it was a fun game. IMO.

I'm interested in trying out the new control sceme though. I wonder why it took them so long to release this update?

I have a feeling they didnt want to do it but sony twisted their arm to do so after so many reviews and players requested analog control...

hmmm gamespots reviews are pretty much irrevelent since last years ratchet and clank review and the departure and scandel of jeff gertsmen.... i dont even pay attention to their review anymore. I'd give HSG an 8.5 out of ten.... nothing revolutionary, but very refined and just plain fun.

Here are the general differences, if yoou want specific differences you'll need to give a specific blu ray player model number.

PS3 has:

Wifi internet connection,

2.0 blu ray spec, 1st standalone player to have this comes in fall

PS3/Psone gameplay ability

Web browser

40gb storage,

Music/photo/video file playback

Access to Playstation store for demos, games, trailers and potentially movie downloads/rentals

Standalone players have none of this. I recommend the ps3 to anyone interested in a blu ray player, its the same price and can do soooo much more. Theres little reason to get a standalone player nowadays. The ps3 is the most futureproof blu ray player... period.

To avoid getting carpal tunnel syndrome while playing GTA4, I will happily take a 2-3 hour break for Iron Man ;).
