i thought the gamespot review was pretty good, and more generous a score than i thought they were gonna give. They tend to score a half point to a full point less than the metacritic consensus (guess it makes them look more... critical ;) heheh). Anyway, 9/10 is good for this sites scoring system, and the gripes he had were legitimate (though i think im actually gonna like the the sniper motion controls). I have two major beef with the game - lack of co-op and no splitscreen multiplayer (ie. cant play 4 player funfest at home with REAL LIVE friends), but they arent game breakers. I'm still putting the game in the 9.2-9.5 range out of 10. Congrats to Guerilla Games on a great game and congrats to PS3 for finally having an FPS that can go toe to toe with Halo and Gears...

I always thought it was meant to be a one off, the main character dies after all and not heard anything about a sequel. It was a good fun game I enjoyed immensely, wouldn't be unhappy to see a sequel but doubt it will happen.MagicHat1
Thanks for the SPOILER man.... Actually its already announced that there is no sequel planned... Ninja Theory was ready to start one but Sony nixed it.... A shame too I loved that game and even though it was short, the review were too harsh on it. Definately pick up the first if you can, its worth the play through.

Hmmm exclusives wise, I have to say i'm looking forward more to the PS3s lineup than the 360 or Wiis. Heres my list: Ps3: Killzone 2, inFamous, God of War 3, Gran Turismo 5, Uncharted 2, next Ratchet and Clank, Final Fantasy 13 and VS, White Knight Chronicles Xbox 360: Halo Wars, Halo ODST, and Alan Wake (if it EVER comes out) Wii: Punch out Multiplatform wise, I always buy for the pS3 just because A) i dont have to worry about the console dying inthe middle of a game (ahem RROD) and B) online multiplayer is FREE! Resident Evil 5, Final Fantasy 13s, etc etc. Bottome line I'll be bying more PS3 games in the next couple years...

I was a huge fan of Gears 2's singleplayer campaign, thought it was one of the best single player shooter campaigns of last year. Very over the top set peices and cool "HUGE" moments. Plus the vehicle variety was a lot of fun. Horde was fun too, and rewarded teamwork which was nice, but after playing 20-30 levels it gets repetitive fast. Competitive multiplayer was a major let down though. A few minor tweaks and additions of weapons really didnt set this game far apart from the first version. Also, gameplay was generally laggy, especially compared to games like Halo 3 or Resistance 2. Everyone knows about the glitches too, looks like they didnt beef up quality control from the first one unfortunately. Compared to games like COD4 (great ranking and rewards system), Halo 3 (groundbreaking community services, theater options and customizable boards), and Resistance 2 (solid competitive, and revolutionary online co op), Gears 2 just doesnt have the depth these online shooters have. The matchmaking is a rudimentary and dysfunctional version of Halo 3s trueskill system. There is no different classes per se, all soldiers you choose are the same with no real upgradable options. Gears 2 online depends soley on its gameplay as a way to keep gamers coming back and nothing else to motivate them. If online play wasn't so laggy and glitchy this may be enough, but so far its failed pretty badly. Now as far as Gears 3? For single player? More of the same as Gears 2, LOVED the vehicle components to break up the gameplay. Horde? Its a good start but needs more depth. Epic should look to Resistance 2 and build on what theyve started. How about different classes of soldiers with specific skills that NEED to work together to survive. ALSO, vary the objectives instead of just the survive/defense objective of Horde. How about escort a VIP? Defend an encampment? Assault a Locust base? etc etc.... overall needs more depth! Online Competitive? Spend some major time on this in the next game. It seemed like Epic rested on their laurels with Gears 2. Competitive needs some serious depth improvements.... clan support, a ranking system with rewards that effect the online game (weapons, armor, skills?), a better designed matchmaking service, better theater options than just screen pictures, and better online community center to interact with other gamers outside the game. And most importantly, keep the game in the cooker longer: need less lag and glitches that ruin the basic gameplay. Gears 2 game out only 2 years after the first game, how about adding an extra year to Gears 3's development time to make sure you get online multiplayer right this time.

I was thinking about getting the Special Edition of this game, and I know what extra things you get for it but I was wondering a few things if I got the refular version which hopefully somebody can answer:

1) The Mythic map pack (for Halo 3) - I know it will be released later on for everyone else but how much (if anything) will it cost?
2) Six Leader Cards - What are these - in game or some sort of Poke'mon/Top Trumps type game cards?
3) Spirit of Fire patch - Can someone explain this a little more in depth?
4) Exclusive "Honor Guard Wraith" - What exactly is this and what does it do? What makes it better than a mainstream Wraith?

Thanks for your time.

1. yeah it'll be released later, past map packs were 800 pst or 10 bucks 2. The leader cards are just cards that have info on the six leaders of the game... sorta like a nicely printed stat card nothing special 3. the patch is... a clothe patch you can put on your jeans, jacket and/or butt 4. The Honor Guard Wraith is a special covenent tank unit probably a slightly different version of the regular covenent tank

[QUOTE="Dan_Lionheart"]X-Play always makes fun of everybody. They've made fun of 360 and Wii owners as well. You just didn't notice because PS3 is probably the only system you have. The whole 360-fanboy thing for X-Play is stupid. The 360 does have more critically acclaimed games than the other systems, so it's not like X-Play is the only place giving 360 games all these high reviews. And X-Play is still one of the better explained places for reviews. Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb know how to back up an opinion, which is all that matters. It's not like any critic speaks facts and nothing else.

Yeah they were merciless to Gamecube owners last generation... THey're equal opportunity a$$hole$ :)

Comments please........... It's your duty damnit.

lol ok. The game is fantastic, look, alot of people will disagree with me but I will say it, this is the best FPS this gen and thats how amazing the game is.

Graphics and Presentation:

Best graphics on consoles ever, the textures are better than all FPS I played this gen and the lighting is the best techincsl achievement in this wonderfully created game, just like I said, Salamun District has one of the most beautiful yet gritty scenery I've ever seen, that scenery looked like CGI, the whole game looks almost like CGI.

The gritty atmosphere feels so realistic with the dust and the dark clouds covering the skies, the small details that nobody cares about in other games are there, you could see a light bulb and you could shoot it and break it, the one thing I hoped to see when the c.........................................

Thanks for the impressions man... I cant wait to play online with this one....
