Great list. I've seen most of them. While some I disagree with being "horror" films, I just came here to say that The Witch is a royal suck-fest. Never had to turn on subtitles for an English speaking film before this one, terrible 3rd act, and some supposedly feminist message that if anything seemed to be anti-feminism. It is so critically lauded and put on so many top-whatever-lists it's insane.

@mbrogz3000: I too feel like the violence has been a little too gratuitous this season. Zombie killing appeals to the dark humorous side in all of us, they aren't really feeling anything, they aren't afraid, and when people occasionally get devoured by them it feels warranted and matter of fact. But human on human has to be handled with a little more finesse, otherwise it just reminds us of reality, which begins to destroy the entertainment aspect of the show. People can get killed left and right, but if you show brains and intestines pouring out it begins to drift into exploitation, shock value, porn even?

Also, the other reason I hate some of the over the top violence (guys holding their intestines and looking at them wide eyed "oogooly moogly!" instead of falling over from the immense pain) is every time something bad is about to happen, AMC warns me with a violence warning as the show comes back from commercials and spoils it! Can't stand it.

@Megamandrew I thought maybe that was just my computer. I'm almost ready to ditch Gamespot after 10 years between the videos and the terrible "stacks" system.

I had the same experience with a friend's Playstation and Resident Evil 2. Though I managed to deal with survival horror on my own pretty well, until Silent Hill 2 that is. Then I cried like a little baby boy.

I still haven't bought this game even though I re-installed Sim City 4 a month prior to this game's release just to hold me over until it came out. After the poor reviews and the DRM scandal I've pretty much forgotten about it by now and am busy playing other games. Waiting for a big price drop, maybe the end of DRM. If other people have done the same thing I have, developers should be taking note.

@cpfast @acemcgregor well played.

Gameplay is important, but what I should say is that fast, or frenetic gameplay isn't as necessary as in the past.

After Spec Ops: The Line I'll gladly play anything that gets most of its score from its story. Maybe I'm just getting older, but I don't care all that much about graphics or gameplay anymore.

This may sound odd, but does anyone miss (Conviction included) being in full control of your movement speed? In the past two there was either standing and moving or crouching and moving, with no speed control through how hard you pushed on the analog stick. To me it added extra depth (and tension) to the gameplay because it felt like I was in control of sneaking up on an enemy and that if I pushed too hard he might hear me.
