@nintendians: Considering how the Wii U turned out, would they really want to try that again? It turned out to be a huge failure for them.

Honestly, I don't get why having apps on the consoles is such a big deal. I remember when the Xbox One was being talked about as some sort of multimedia powerhouse and remembered thinking it was a stupid idea in a world where Rokus and Fire TV sticks were $40 or so bucks. Now, it makes even less sense, with every TV nowadays having all the major apps, and plug-in options like Chromecast or Fire TV sticks filling in whatever gaps MAY have (assuming your smart TV isn't Google TV or Fire TV).

I'm sure SOMEONE was using the Switch for most of their Twitch viewing, but I can't imagine this is going to be a major loss for either Twitch or Nintendo.

@soborozkee: I wouldn't go that far. They don't offer client-free installers the way GOG does.

Considering I've never been interested in DRMed platforms, I'm used to waiting for a GOG release. No different here.

Because the FOX purchase wasn't enough of a disaster for Disney. Not sure what they can do with Hulu, aside from folding the content into Disney+ and shuttering the brand.

If she was fired over Jim Ryan's mandates, why wait until after he announced his resignation? Sounds like she's just moving on after being there since 1989. Thirty-four years is a long time.

As for live-service games, Sony's coming to the party a little late, I think, considering the major players are all deeply entrenched and so many games have come and gone of late.

@GalvatronType_R: Ding.

It's not the government's place to intervene here, as there's no real threat to consumer well-being. It's no secret that gaming is trying as hard as it can to price people out, but screaming in a message board isn't going to do anything, especially given no one really pays attention to these stupid threads anyway. No one's looking to change the world - you go where you need to, and if that means moving on, that's what you do.

If Sony and Microsoft want to push people who aren't made of money out of the ecosystem, that's fine. There's no shortage of options for entertainment that DOESN'T break the bank. Like you said, shug and move on.

@girlusocrazy: Well, that's the nature of digital. Customers are always treated worse than pirates. It's why GOG is my only digital game store.

The thing with the drive, I can see that because they don't want another Geohot situation.... Which they're going to get BECAUSE of this, ironically.

@dushness: It kinda hits different when it's something people are ACTUALLY afraid might happen (active shooters are a thing), rather than a semi-fantastical scenario.

@jimg81: Your bigotry isn't worth catering to, what can I say?
