@amillionhp: Thank you for your response.

I don't know what to say. If you are old enough to remember SC3 then you may have noticed that gamers, fans and the overall consumer want more for their money than the bog standard vs option. We have the "...and what else?" attitude. What I mean by that is, give us a game in 2018 and we expect it do fulfil its criteria within it's own genre and have online capabilities as a minimum standard (as you mentioned). Then comes the phrase "...and what else?"

Having these extra fluffy features as part of the home gaming experience is what makes spending the money worth it, keeps the gamer engaged longer with replay value and it is a smart alternative to the same old same old vs. mode (which is just as much fun).

"Extra features should focus on players being able to improve their skill as conveniently as possible which is exactly what SC5 did, having the recording feature and several online options to fight other players."

If we went with this, where all there was in a game was Arcade/story mode, vs mode and practice, then you would definitely get SC5 which was the worst game in the franchise (in my opinion) for having repetitive modes which lacked depth. I think this is what led to it being scored so lowly in the review.

Some gamers want more than vs modes. They want to unlock content via challenges/side quests, adventure modes for customisation and not necessarily through DLC.

This is my opinion being an old gamer. The franchise has got the vs mode right as well as a good roster of characters (dunno about some of the dodgy new characters they're bringing in lol), but it loses its continuity of creativity outside of these realms each time it brings out a new game which is highly frustrating.

Last point, let's not forget the young gamers who may not have siblings, friends or family to play against and can't afford to go online. Improving their abilities in a game they can't use against anyone will mean the game gets sheveled because it didn't have that "fluff" to keep them engaged.

Please Please Please hear me Project Soul!

The Soul Calibur (SC) was doing so well. SC 3 was amazing due to its customisation (not just features and armor, but with fighting styles changing with profession not just borrowing the same ol’ fighting styles from fighters in the main game. For example, a ninja had completely different movements and techniques to that of Taki from the main game!!! LOVED IT! VERY ORIGINAL AND A REFRESHING CHANGE!), Chronicles of the Sword, Soul Arena and the very many different weapon abilities/effects.

SC4 expanded on this customisation character option with amazing detail/graphics to bring it to life! Thank you! It didn't have Soul Arena or Chronicles of The Sword as it was replaced with some 'Tower' one would have to play to unlock items (armour and weapons). This was hurtful as fans who didn't want to focus on the story or heavily interested in brawling all the time found lighter enjoyment in Soul Arena or using strategy (and 'some' fighting) to overcome enemies within Chronicls of The Sword seen in SC3. I believe this was forgiven due to amazing DLC and cameo appearances of Star Wars characters that played 'Peeeeeerfectly'.

SC5 was... actually... let me not go there.

PLEASE bring back the same or similar fun in game modes like Soul Arena from SC3. This light amusement and gameplay can be seen across many different fighting games. Street Fighter has bonus stages, Mortal Kombat has 'Test your Might', Tekken has Tekken Force mode where Tekken 6 had plenty humor and fun gameplay away from the usual story/arcade modes. Everything you need and can expand from can be taken from Soul Calibur 3.

PLEASE bring back Chronicles of The Sword. Who ever thought of that concept is brilliant! Using fighters you create to go into battle to overthrow others, spread your fighters out, making them rest, saving fighters for boss battles, o my word I could go on, it was simply amazing and in this day-and-age where players can go online to maybe overthrow other players of a similar level… SO MUCH FUN TO BE HAD HERE!

Please consider this, please look into this, please, please, PLEASE! I’ve kept this so brief hoping it will be read and taken seriously! Let me know ya thoughts.

MWAHAHAHAHAHAA first characters that sprang to mind that would be quite humorous to see them in the game would be:

Captain N (Old School Cartoon, would be nice to feel some nostalgia for us oldies who appreciated seeing Mr Game and Watch in SB:Melee)

Banjo Kazooie

Taj/WizPig (Diddy Kong Racing characters)

Joe and Mac (Caveman Ninjas, old school nostalgia feeling)

Wonder Boy/Alex Kidd (Sega representatitves, old school nostalgia feeling)

I think that's it... I would be interested to see how Nintendo developed these characters for Smash Bros...!
