Instead of keeping his back foot planted (as you are usually taught) he drags it forward as he swings - straight forward, so he's not off balance. It looks like it cuz he starts running down the line as soon as he makes contact.

How bad is Fukudome this year??? The guy has been awful since the beginning of the season and all Cubs fans are still bowing down to the guy. He has one of the worst swings I've seen in a while and he still probably gets the loudest ovation at Wrigley.

What the frick are you talking about!!!??? You clearly don't watch baseball, because he is one of the most disciplined hitters in the league. Although he really is in a slump right now, he started off the season really hot. He sees like at least 4 pitches a plate appearance and his OBP is through the roof. His swing is not awful!! Where did you get that?? It's the Japanese style!!! Look at Ichiro, the swings are almost identical!!! Just because he doesn't hit a buttload of HRs doesn't mean he's bad. He' doing quite well this season. Do some research so you know what you're talking about before you make another stupid board like this one.

You just hit the nail on the head manningbowl. My thoughts exactly. Plus no one hates the cubs - when a neutral person turns on the tube and a cubs game is on, they'll generally root for the cubs, not against them like if it was the Yankees (or in the NFL the Patriots).
