Somehow, I don't believe that it will last that long - perhaps through Q2 2022 at the latest.

Recent and on-going modifications to the supply chain (domestic chip production, high speed rail, etc.) will ameliorate many of the issues we've seen for the last 16 months, even if the new infrastructure bill is full of pork. What I see actually happening in the short-term is more companies utilizing blank-cheque companies to "MSI" their way to greater profits, even on dated tech. Never before have we seen graphics cards like my 5-year-old 1070 selling for over $500, a price target previously reserved for the xx70 release of the same year.

I do see inflation increasing across the board on virtually everything, but as it stands, current prices on select products (computers, tech with chips) will crash hard within the next year as newer designs roll out in the coming months/few years.

2023 seems far-fetched for a return to 2019's figures. I'm thinking we'll quickly see generational leaps cropping up, mostly with sustainable tech in mind cuz that's just how politics rolls right now. This decade should continue with the exponential gains of prior years rather than the +5-10% margins we've seen for the last several years.

tick TOCK tick tick tick tick ---> tick TOCK tick TOCK tick TOCK (wishful thinking probably, but don't go spending all your hard-earned cash just yet!)

My $0.02

Crysis Remastered is a sad port of a game that still only prioritizes a single core, so this same issue would likely be observed while playing the original Crysis. Unless your CPU is running at 10GHz with 2x the IPC of a 10900k, you will always see these percentages with this game.

I was wondering what router everyone here would recommend nowadays.

We're looking to upgrade to gigabit internet. Our home is 2 stories, approximately 2000 sqft/186 square meters.

Latency is a bigger concern for us than raw speed, as other than a few simultaneous streams of 4K Netflix, youtube, and a few other apps, we'll likely be "competitive gaming" (ie. shooters, mobas, etc.) and would prefer the most expedited connection possible.

A quick google search said the TP-Link AX50 would be good, but I wanted to hear what the experts say first. Thanks!

@elessarGObonzo: I hear ya on that. I got a bit excited, but I knew I was wishfully thinking when I walked into that BestBuy at opening time. I was a little surprised how aggravated and entitled some people were, claiming they waited outside the store for hours. People need to chill - it's not the employees' fault, and it's just a video card anyway.

If it does end up being a few weeks' wait (likely), I'll just wait to see what Big Navi brings to the table.

...However, I'm still anticipating getting those beautiful fins into my ITX system. =P It's also the closest version to a blower style card I can get.

Anyone here by chance snag a local or online 3080? Every vendor I saw, refreshing constantly, had them listed "coming soon" to "SOLD OUT" in a split second at 10:00 EST. Best Buy rep said they never even got any stocked. They weren't kidding when they said that they were ultra-limited lol.

I'm 76 years old, so I'm going to wait until the next stop on the complain train of 30 fps. I could use a lower IQ.

EDIT: Old pic removed, new pic added.

I love how easy the new tower is to move, and it is silent! It's flush with the top of the receiver across the desk. I love how aesthetic it's becoming. Still waiting on a new blower-style GPU to replace the old looker (780).

And @horgen ...I even made the Noctua's beige & brown blend :P

I couldn't resist. I refreshed all morning and pulled the trigger on:

  • STRIX B450 ITX
  • Ryzen 5 3600
  • Crucial 1TB M.2
  • 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance
  • 2TB Toshiba external for backing up all my crap
  • EDIT: Just ordered a D15 because it can fit...
  • a shrunken down FD Core 500 case to fit it all in

Can't wait for the new build. Going to pass my current SATA SSDs and GTX 780 into that rig until a newer GPU piques my interest. The 1660 ti was close, but the price is still crazy for GPUs imo. May check CL in the coming weeks.

That Ryzen 5 3600 ought to be a decent upgrade though. Still on my ol' FX 8320@stock lol.
