I unfortunately never got to play A Link to the Past. But I did get to play Minish Cap, and it was a lot of fun. I can't wait to get back to that style of Zelda game.
I'm the same, not very into multiplayer. For console games at least. I have played MMOs on PC in the past. And maybe that will change with the next-gen, because I am in interested in both Destiny and The Crew. I don't mind co-op, it's competitive MP that doesn't interest me.
edit: Oh, apparently he's in BF4. Even better, I was already planning on playing that.
My friends have no influence over what I buy, but I have had some influence on some of them. I talked a few of them into going with the PS4 instead of the Xbox One.
Funny thing is, since then, I've actually decided to not get the PS4 at launch. I had it preordered but I've canceled my order and I'm using that money to upgrade my PC. I'll pick up a PS4 some time next year.
@VoidSECT - I beat him earlier today. It was a very epic fight, but I was surprised at (MILD SPOILERS) how early in the story you take him out. I was expecting him to be a major player all throughout the game, or at least one of the final assassins you take out.
Can't wait to see what the rest of this game has in store for me.
@thread-of-red - I think it's worth noting that there are diminishing returns on innovation. I mean, once you've perfected the formula, where do you go from there? Small improvements, I guess, but Origins does make a number of small improvements. And some not-so-small improvements.
As you say, COD is often criticized for its lack of innovation but is rarely penalized for it when it comes to the review scores. I think that comes down to expectation. No one really expects COD to do anything drastically new. And so the problem is expectations: I am very pleased with Origins because "just more Arkham City" is all I really expected.
@ThrashMatt26 - Every review I've read of this game complains about the lack of innovation. It seems very unfair to me. For starters, it's a new developer -- I think they had their hands full just trying to replicate Rocksteady's success, without the added pressure of adding anything new. So in that regard, I'm actually glad they didn't try anything too innovative.
I mean, how do you improve on a game like Arkham that is already so damn good? Well, actually, WB Montreal found quite a few ways to improve upon it. Which is why the "lack of innovation" complaint is all the more perplexing.
The new XP system is really good. The new gadgets are pretty cool. I love the new crime scene analysis system. What more do they want? I seriously have the feeling that if Rocksteady had made this game, it wouldn't be judged this harshly.
Oh, and probably my favorite thing that Origins does better than the previous two games are the cutscenes. I know that sounds lame, but the cutscenes are done very well. The cinematography is incredible, and for a film nerd such as myself, that's a major point.
