@Clock-w0rk They tried going head to head on the power front and it got them no where. I love the GameCube but it got outsold by the Xbox and that was Microsoft's first console. Even if Nintendo released an HD system on par with the next Xbox and PlayStation, I doubt 3rd parties would want to put their games on it.

@IAMTYLERDURDEN @---Cipher--- I agree some people would buy a gimmick-free Nintendo console. But they did that with the GameCube and it was handily outsold by the PS2 and even the Xbox which was Microsoft's first console. It did even worse than the N64 which made Nintendo rethink trying to compete head-on with a traditional system ever since.

@pcty @Araknie The GamePad is new. And it can stream information back and forth between the console without any lag. It looks like a step above Smartglass or Vita/PS3 connectivity.

@pcty @Celsius765 3DS had a terrible launch. The Wii U actually has a broad lineup. Obviously the games won't please everyone but I imagine anyone picking up a Wii U has two or three games they want to buy.

@jhcho2 3D Realms couldn't make a decent shooter out of Duke Nukem Forever and they had 12 years to make it.
