I'm a long time console gamer, like 25 years gaming, and just got my first powerful laptop to start playing PC games every once in a while (along with my X1 of course mlm). I already ran the HDMI cable from the computer through the walls and ceiling to pop out behind the 55" tv. I got what I think is a capable pc. I just need some info if I'll be able to play demanding games like they should be played and what games it won't be able to handle (just new pc games). Here's the list of specs off the box...

- 4th Gen Intel Core i7-4700HQ with 6MB L3 Cache and 2.4GHz Processor with Turbo Boost up to 3.4GHz

- Nvidia GTX 765M Graphics Chip with 2GB GDDR5 Dedicated Video Memory

- 8GB DDR3 Memory, expandable to 32GB

- 1TB Hard Drive

- Windows 8 64-bit

- 4 USB 3.0 Ports

- 1 Thunderbolt Port

- HDMI Out

- Gigabit Wired/Wireless-ac

- Bluetooth 4.0

- 17.3" LED Backlit TFT-LCD Display

- DVD +/- RW Drive, Media Reader & Built-In 1.0MP Webcam.

Most of this is like reading Chinese to me. I know the stuff on the bottom half of the list, but the processor and graphics card and L3 something or other... I just need help determining what I can and can't do with this. Thanx for the help.

lots of bugs in this game. I wonder if this is a lack of testing or a problem in producing the disc.

It's not the disc. I've returned mine twice already. The 360 version crashes on me multiple times per day to where I have to reboot the console. I wanna snap the disc in half. There isn't one particular thing that causes a crash, it happens whenever it wants to. This is what happens when they give an awesome game to an inexperienced studio. And it's not like they even added anything new from Arkham City. Everything is the same except there's a new story with new characters. But the missions, city, and buildings are all the same.

So is the $1,250 I paid for it good for what's included? I mean do the specs and hardware justify the price in laptop terms? I know desktops are much cheaper. But yea, it definitely is damn heavy.

Thanks for your input Maddie. So basically your saying that Asus made the laptop for games so just leave it like this? I wasn't actually thinking of the upgrades in terms of price vs performance, which I should be. I was thinking what I'll need to make it decent.

The Samsung SSD grabbed me with promises of instant access with little to no loading at all. And the Samsung drive isn't cheap at $250 +or-.

I've never given pc gaming a second thought before. But I may just connect this laptop to my tv and use one of those Xbox controllers meant for the pc to play some games.

I needed a new laptop and didn't get it specifically for games. Is BF3 the ultimate test or something? Like why choose that game?

I just bought a new Asus laptop and need your guys input on whether it's a good setup for gaming. I'm a console gamer and don't know jack about pc hardware, but wanted a powerful laptop, so I ended up getting this....

ASUS G75VX-BHI7N11

-3rd generation i7 3630QM Quad Core Processor with 6MB L3 Cache at 2.4GHz with booster to 3.5GHz

-8GB DDR3 Memory, Upgradeable to 32GB

- 1TB Hard Drive @ 5400rpm (Has 2 HDD Bays. Second one is empty for now)

-Nvidia GTX 670MX Graphics Chip with 3 GB of dedicated GDDR5 Memory

-17.3" LED Display

- 4 USB 3.0 ports

-802.11 ac (both wireless & wired Gigabit speed)

-Windows 8 64-bit

I paid $1,250 (+tax) at Bestbuy for it. Is this ok to run pc games in high settings and all that? From what I understand, this is a really good price for what's included. But someone suggested to take out the slow 5400rpm hdd and use both hdd bays. They recommended a Samsung 840 Pro 256GB SDD as the primary drive and a Western Digital Black 750GB HDD for the secondary drive. They said it'll make all the most used stuff work instantly.

Please give me any input or suggestons. Nothin to crazy though cause I don't build pc's  ;)

This is one of THEE best games to come out in this console generation, imo. It's top notch all around. I'm not counting the garbage multiplayer either. Tomb Raider is a single player game imo. When games are made with the utmost quality and fun gameplay, I support the developer by buying their game. If games are good, you should buy them so the publisher sees that this type of game is what gamers want. And not just Tomb Raider, this applies to all games.

Yeah, it does it with crates also. I first noticed it with those green crates that you smash. They would respawn if I reloaded the checkpoint.

The absolute best part to get infinite supplies is when you are on the frozen planet and following the flares for your friends. The little shacks you pass through, it's the last shack before the big building you come to (where you finally get the suit for the cold weather). So get your suit so you don't have to worry about freezing first. Then head back to that last shack. All you gotta do is open the door, coming from the suit building direction, and there's an item on the floor right inside the door. Don't pick it up yet. Back up, let the door shut, then open it again. Now there's 2 items. Then 3, 4, 5... All you gotta do is let the door open and close. Every time you re-open the door there's another item. I had about 75 items before I started picking them up. It's a great way to level your suit too. So make sure you empty your inventory slots at the bench in the big suit building before going to collect so you can store more items.

This is waaayyy better than rebooting the game all the time. That's a pain. This is immediate.

I have about 90 rations and wanted to know if they come into play anywhere in the game or are they just for dlc purposes? Is there something I should be saving them for?
