If shouldered properly, a good 30-06 kick is comparable to a 20 gauge shotgun, at least in my experience. And awesome collection, BTW.WiiCubeM1
So about on par with a Garand then. I think I'd like 30-06 if it weren't so pricey. At least compared to the other rifle rounds I shoot, .303 British aside. And thanks, though I've probably spent far more than I should.
You guys honestly think an old .30 kills your shoulder?
I've shot 30-06 rifles that do more damage than that.

It only kills the shoulder if you don't shoulder it properly. I'd say 7.62x54r kicks as much as 30-06, but it depends on the rifle that's shooting the round. 30-06 out of a 1903 Springfield kicks considerably more than out of a Garand. The inverse is true for 7.62x54r, out of a Mosin Nagant is doesn't kick much. Out of an SVT-40, it's sizable.
I've never personally shot a Mosin-Nagant, although the size is very comparable to standard .308 cartridge.
My knowledge of guns comes from years of hunting, and my knowledge on military guns is quite limited, so I'll take your word for it.
Vice-versa for myself, my knowledge on hunting firearms is just about nil, so I have no clue how 30-06 kicks in those. I'm a military arms collector to the bone.

For a person who doesn't shoot often, even properly shouldering it will begin to hurt after about 30-40 rounds. The first few clips don't hurt, but after awhile she really hurts.
All the better that your most recent purchase was an SKS. Kicks about as much as a .22. Speaking of, SKSs would be fantastic starting rifles...were it not for their skyrocketing price. Yugos and Chinese start at $400 these days...
[QUOTE="thegerg"][QUOTE="bnarmz"][QUOTE="thegerg"] Many guns were not made to kill either, but you have no problem grouping all guns together. I am simply using your own flawed logic here. a gun would never be in sports if they weren't first used for killing. In sports when you shoot a target, They say you got a "KILL", you are rewarded for it. The sport would not exist if the gun wasn't made to kill. By that same reasoning, a club would never be in sports if they weren't first used for killing. Why are we still replying to the tool who thinks vaccines are bad? This thread's going places folks, lets not ruin it.
Warning, known to dislocate novice shooter's shoulders from time to time.

Shhhh! That's what makes recommending them to a new shooter awesome!
