@QuadThumbs

The Xbox One supports external storage which can apparently be used in all of the same ways that the internal one can be, I would assume the PS4 can pull the same trick as well but I am not sure, at the minimum it will probably support external drives in the same way the PS3 currently does.

That actually sounds really neat, if it works anyways and getting in-game currency for it is a nice touch.

Odd, all of the things I have seen on it state that the games can be resold if the publisher agrees to it, if you have a link with an official comment from Microsoft that states otherwise I would genuinely like to see it.

"We saw with the Nintendo 3DS, it got off to a slow start, but then when software started rolling in, sales have done really well," he said.

I was under the impression that the 3DS only started doing really well after a fairly aggressive price cut on Nintendos' part and not the software, honestly I can't see the WiiU really selling until the same thing happens.

Did they ever fix the rubber band AI or are they still insisting that that is somehow better and more exciting then properly programmed AI?

I know that this won't be a very popular opinion but honestly I find what Microsoft is doing interesting, not necessarily good mind you, but interesting. The console is essentially a console version of Steam, with more restrictive DRM, but with the ability to loan out games and potentially sell them used if the publisher agrees. If they put in the ability to rent straight through Live, or to purchase rental codes through Live, or retail if you prefer to go to a store for the actual media, it could make things interesting, at least for those with an internet connection to sustain the bloody thing.

The whole Kinect thing I will admit is kind of annoying, though if you are worried about it spying on you, you can always disable most of its features according to Microsoft and then turn the camera around and tape something over both the camera and the mic, that should prevent it from spying on you.

True enough, but that Sony could still work out a bundle around Playstation Plus, sure it isn't mandatory but the lure of a subsidized PS4 along with the perks of Playstation Plus would make for an interesting offer.

"He added that because Sony's PlayStation Network is free, the company is missing out on an opportunity to subsidize the next-generation system through a subscription model.

I take it this guy hasn't heard of Playstation Plus yet.

@Barazon It's a rights issue plain and simple, I am sure that Microsoft would be more then happy to push this at launch but something tells me that the publishers wouldn't go for it and that would screw Microsoft seriously in the long run for the console. Negotiating for rights like that can't be easy and given how Microsoft also tends to operate internally they may not even know the best way to go about implementing it and that's just for lending games.

For rentals, Steam, XBL and PSN all have the infrastructure in place to do digital rentals (I am assuming Steam does anyways since it does free play weekends) but none of them currently do it so there is no way that it can be easy thing to implement.

I think what he is referring to is the need to wire a headset to the controller instead of just having it wireless.
