I don't understan why this issue seems to be getting swpet under the rug here at Gamespot. There's nothing about it in the General Gaming Forum. There's nothing about it here in the System Wars forum ( The larget forum here at Gamespot ).

Can I say with 100% certainty that not turning on your PS3 today will save it?

No, but just imagine if it totally will save it and I came here to System wars as I always do and saw no warning because there ISN'T ONE. And Later on I find out that if I were only warned my PS3 would still be working. I'd be more than a little mad.

The latest news is that this glitch isn't affecting any SLIM PS3's and isn't affecting a small perentage of PHAT PS3's. But the VAST Majority are.


Crazy to think that right now roughly 80% of the ALL THE PS3's ON EARTH..... are broken :o


Will this problem automatically fix itself by tomorrow? Is this a massive problem or some kiond of worst case scenario?

At this point nobody knows.

For the sake of PS3 gamers there should be a Huge"DO NOT TURN ON YOUR PS3 TODAY - MASSIVE GLITCH DETECTED" thread stickied on the top of every forum here. It's not guaranteed that will help 100% but better to err on the side of caution right?

I get here and I see that there is no sticked thread and threads are actually getting locked. And not only getting locked but there's no post at the end from a MOD about why the thread was locked and a hint about where we should go to talk about this.

I've noticed some people in the sticked PSN thread talking about this, but it's been confirmed that this glitch doesn't have anything to do with PSN, as was initially thought.

So maybe a stickied thread ( that indicates a WARNING about NOT Turning on your PS3 ) would be in order. You might actually save alot of PS3's.

I find it strange. Many people are blaming the leap year, they say the clock turned to Feb 29th and the system didn't know what to do yada yada yada system crash yada yada yada.... but I can't help but notice that there is NO LEAP YEAR in 2010.

How can a leap year that doesn't exist be the source of any problem?

oh god..i swore it was proven already that ps3 ran in 720p even rockstar said it...

The Ps3 version os GTA IV does NOT run natively in 720p. The game is rendered at 640p and then Upscaled to 720p.

This is not a Rumor or a Guess. It's a FACT.

OR you could just take a Look at any of these comparison pictures. The PS3 version is CLEARLY Lower Res.

Didn't IGN clearly say the PS3 version was the one to get, visually? white_sox

The reviewer at IGN needs to get his eyes checked because he turned out to be wrong.

He even said that he tjhought the PS3 version had better AA. The next day it was revealed that the PS3 version was 640p, ZERO AA and they use a Blur Buffer to compensate.

I'll take 720p with 2X AA over that Any day.

You don't even need to look to reviews for a few sentences of comparison. There are Lengthly Comparisons that have been made.

This one is 6 Pages Long and compares eveything. You don't need to "trust" some random reviewer, they have provided screens and even a comparison video. you only need to trust your own eyes.

Gametrailers has also made a Comparison vid where the 360 version is clarly the better looking of the two. And what is really ironic about this vid is that it shows more Pop In from the PS3 version. Infact there's one Really Bad bit of Pop In at 2:40 - 2:46

Yeah. We should really be putting lots of stock into what they have to say LOL

And ontop of all that, this new Ghostbustes game looks like an Xbox ONE game.

They are only saying anything postitive about the PS3 ( which they have ZERO experience with ) because SONY pictures OWNS the license to Ghostbusters.

The only "proof" you seem to have is a PR guy from Rockstar saying in a Magazine, Long BEFORE the game ever released that the game was 720p. And it DOES output at 720p. Just NOT Natively. So he's not completely Lying when he said that.

These guys over at Beyond3D have does this HUNDREDS OF TIMES. ( Most people don't realize this )

Most people just know about Halo 3 ( 640p ) and COD 4 ( 600p ).

So ask yourself. Were they wrong about those games? No, ofcourse not. And they aren't Wrong about the PS3 version of GTA IV either.
