I wouldn't say they are any better, but up until last gen it seemed there were always a decent amount of games with a strange addicting quality to them.  This gen the only game that has done that to me is Mirror's Edge.  Though the key is for that addiction to last through the generations.  I'll give a few examples below

Burnout 3 & Revenge

Ninja Gaiden (Xbox)

Tony Hawk Pro Skater Series

Tekken 3, TT, 5

Goldeneye & Perfect Dark

Einhander

F-Zero SNES

Doom I & II

Any NES or SNES Mario

Sonic 1-2

Megaman 2

etc...

These games just keep my interest over the years, I can't put them down.  Now certain games keep you interested for a time but aren't timeless I loved GT 1-3, but I readily admit that I stopped playing them as they successors came, even if the newer interactions were missing that special touch.

So, I guess the real test will be what if any games will we all be coming back to over and over again in the future. Meaning it is way too early to really pass judgment on this gen.  I loved Mario 1-3 but I don't really remember playing them much in the years after I got my hands on Super Mario World, yet I play them now.

Splatterhouse was probably the 1st really violent game that I remember and I'm relatively certain that it was the one that started it all.

I'd get the original Jak which is one of the best pure platformers on teh system, the rest of the games can be played on any old PC at a much better resolutions.

I loved Red Faction but was disappointed with the sequel since Geomod was put to better use in the original game and secondly the single player campaign was infinitely better in the RF1.

[QUOTE="Talldude80"]

Shmups:

  • 1941: Counter Attack
  • Blazing Lazers
  • Dragon Spirit
  • R-Type
  • Raiden
  • Super Star Soldier

Emerald_Warrior

As a side note here if you own a TG-16 don't go running out to buy 1941 as it is a SuperGrafx game and won't run on a normal system.

To the original question yes there are some great games for the TG-16/PCE just don't expect the huge library offered by some other systems. The CD attachment also has some great titles Dracula X: Rondo of Blood being my personal favorite.

Super Mario World the 1st game I ever owned on my SNES and I'm pretty sure it still gets the most play time.

El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron

Good - A really unique and interesting art style.

Bad - Combat feels bland and repetitive.

I think is was 720 Degrees for the NES...what a crappy game. I'd played the arcade version and like a stupid kid I still didn't get the whole NES games are nothing like their arcade counterparts. Though Double Dragon NES is still the game that really scarred my memory as being nothing like the Arcade.

I was thinking about moving to a Slim system as my phat's noise level really bothers me and I wouldn't mind having wifi either. Obviously it is in fine working condition no RROD or disc read problems.

Included would be:

  • System (Phat with no HDMI port/No HDD)
  • 1 Wireless Controller
  • Power Brick
  • Composite Cables
  • Component Cables

Any ideas what it should be worth?

Hey I'll never forget this one, my cat took a fit and ran full force across my living room right into my PS2's controller wire. The jolt made on single large scuff in the copy of Tekken Tag as I was playing it. The game would just stay at the character select screen forever would never move unto the match. I tried to repair it and after multiple failed attempts destroyed the disc it a fit of rage. Of course I purchased a replacement but being in college at the time I wasn't flush with cash so it cost me another title but oh well I still love Tekken Tag so it was worth it. Though that was my launch copy so I still feel like kicking my car from time to time.
