Star Wolves 3: Civil War
If you've read my other reviews on GameFAQs and GameSpot you know I normally give a game a fair go. Even if I don't like it, I point out where it went wrong and what possible improvements could be made. But space sims... Read Full Review3 of 3 users found the following review helpful
If you've never played dungeon crawlers before, the basic premise is that the player controls a hero who delves into a dungeon, slays some monsters, and then hauls loot back up to the surface where he takes stock of his ... Read Full Review2 of 2 users found the following review helpful
I haven't played Minecraft, but this game is often compared to it albeit this is in 2D rather than the former's 3D. Basically it's a sandbox/2D platformer mix with RPG elements. You start out with a bunch of basic to... Read Full Review0 of 1 users found the following review helpful
I haven't played the XBox version, but from what I can tell it's a pretty faithful port. Sudeki is colourful, the music fits the bill, and the game is overall fun to play. Sudeki's maps are actually cunningly disguise... Read Full Review1 of 1 users found the following review helpful
One of the better Korean grindfests out there, unfortunately that's not saying much, and the devs are ruining it.
Flyff is an English-language port of a Korean grindfest-type mmorpg of the same name. What distinguishes it from the masses of other similar grindfests listed on mmorpg.com is that it is actually policed, and that there ... Read Full Review3 of 3 users found the following review helpful
I remember when DarkStar One was in development, and we space sim enthusiasts were lurking on their forums and asking questions. Of particular interest to many of us was how the game was to be played. Rest assured, we we... Read Full Review8 of 14 users found the following review helpful
I won't bore you with a comprehensive review, as the three previous ones by taxonomic, antipun1, and kadatherion pretty much nail it down. Here's a brief pro/con rundown: Pros: + Bargain. $20 on Steam, for a good gam... Read Full Review0 of 0 users found the following review helpful
More than a decade past it's release, FFT still shines as an example of an SRPG that isn't about mindless overleveling.
Fact: in the vast majority of SRPGs (hello Nippon Ichi games) and even RPGs, the simple expedient of grinding for more exp - overleveling - is sufficient to carry the day. Combined with misguided expectations from other ... Read Full Review1 of 2 users found the following review helpful
You need to have played the original game (not the first sequel) to really appreciate the improvements and numerous scattered references throughout the game, but it's still a really engaging strategy / rpg space sim none... Read Full Review1 of 2 users found the following review helpful
Those of us hungering for more Privateer / Elite / Freelancer action will still have to keep on waiting, but Star Wolves offers a new take on the space sim genre: strategy/rpg. RPG in space?! Believe it. When I fired ... Read Full Review3 of 3 users found the following review helpful
I'll cut to the chase: go read gezegond's review of the game for a thorough (and I MEAN thorough) review of the actual game. What I'm here for is to address those of you, working adults like myself, who were curious abou... Read Full Review3 of 3 users found the following review helpful
If you ever played Empire Deluxe and wanted some improvements in the game without totally changing it, this is for you.
Like the other reviewer, kailii, posted in 2010 (boy does time fly...), Empires of Steel ("EoS") can be best described as a mix of old games - although, as I mentioned in my blurb, it most closely resembles Empire Deluxe... Read Full Review0 of 0 users found the following review helpful
I'm not really a hardcore RTS player despite starting out on the original warcraft (not wc2) and earlier, on turn-based games (Empire Deluxe, the grandaddy of them all, no less); I simply haven't played that many games a... Read Full Review1 of 1 users found the following review helpful
"Wtf is action strategy?" lol yeah. Tears to Tiara - which is basically a linear visual novel with surprisingly deep (for the genre) combat - sports real-time battles which pits your characters against the enemy in prede... Read Full Review2 of 2 users found the following review helpful
This is the scale to which RTS games should aspire, build yourself a varied army and let the good times roll.
It is now 2012, you should already be familiar with the name Supreme Commander as it is one of the highest rated RTS games currently in existence. And rightly so. Far too many RTS games feel like squad-level engagemen... Read Full Review3 of 3 users found the following review helpful
Since it's been years the game has come out, and with the rows of 8s and 9s this game is scoring from people, I doubt you need me to introduce the game. The game is uses a book narrative concept, with chapters and epi... Read Full Review1 of 1 users found the following review helpful
Although not very deep, this game gives you a ton of things to do and you'll enjoy yourself too much to notice.
First off, read the first player review, the one by Lazay727. While it sounds lazy/ominous to start a review by telling you read another one, there's a good reason: it covers the basics. Now for mine. Personally, I ha... Read Full Review1 of 1 users found the following review helpful
Would be the perfect 4X game to ease into if not for a few flaws. Still an unbeatable purchase though.
Trinity is the package of Sins Of A Solar Empire ("Sins") and the two expansions, Entrenchment and Diplomacy. Installing it will provide you all three, which means you can still multiplay with friends who only purchases ... Read Full Review2 of 2 users found the following review helpful
Contains all the ingredients of a great game but unfortunately marred by a huge flaw and, worse, Starforce
Space Rangers is a fun turn-based 2D space sim, with emphasis more on combat rather than trading or exploring. I'll keep this short and to-the-point. (1) You can only ever take one mission at a time. This unfortunate ... Read Full Review3 of 9 users found the following review helpful
