Having gone to every E3 since 2004, its undeniable that this year's event lacked the same impact as E3 has had on the years previous. While the focus of E3 and E for All may be different in terms of a business perspective, you're going to see some large announcements at E for All that would usually be reserved for the E3's of days past.csstriker4

That's certainly not what I've been hearing. I can think of at least five major companies who, when asked, said that they were going to focus entirely on their 2007 product line at E for All. Why would they do anything but that? They have no incentive to announce this stuff in the middle of the holiday season, they want all of the focus to be on their holiday line-up.

Also, while E3 was smaller, I found that I was able to do a lot more business with a lot less people getting in my way. Interviews were a breeze and I definitely got more stuff done this time around. I wished everything was more centralized, but I loved the new format (as did many of the people I talked with who also attended E3 this year).

I would ask her if she thinks movies are for "kids" as well. Or what about television shows? Music? Books? All other forms of entertainment. Are those for kids too?

And then, after she's done thinking about that, I would make the comment that most people who buy games are between the ages of 18 and 34. 28 being the average age of most gamers. Those are just the facts, and if she disagrees with them then she can live her live being ignorant of what is really happening in the real world.

hi, E for All IS coming up. it is been months or 2 month since E3. i know both has the letter E, and E3 is now smaller and boring in your point of view. anyway, i want to know which is better. i did check out the e3 website and the e3insider website and i think it is okay. but, i don't like the format sometimes. did you think E for All will be beter, also one more thing, you know NextGenVideos, they made those DVDs of the evnts like E3, they skip last year for no reason, and i want to know if they are out of biz. see ya.MadGamer132

They are two COMPLETELY different events. E3 is a business event, it's a trade show. It's an event where companies conduct business and show off their wares to the media. It's an event where games and hardware is announced and plans are solidified.

In sharp contrast, E for All is a public show, it's trying to keep the "circus" atmosphere of the old E3 and turn it into an event where anybody can come and see what they'll be playing in a few months. From what I've heard from the companies promoting games there it won't be a business event, it won't be a place where a bunch of new games are announced and shown off for the first time. It's a place where gamers can play games a few weeks early, that's all. As a media event it sucks ... which is one of the reasons why it's not going to be covered the same way E3 was.

Also it's happening at a terrible time. Most of the press will be busy reviewing the holiday games and no company is going to announce a bunch of new games when they are trying to sell people on what they have for the holiday.

Oh, and take it from somebody who went to this year's E3 (and somebody who has been to many past E3s), this year's event was NOT "smaller and boring" as you say. It was exciting and spread out. Sure there were fewer people, but that's because only the people who actually matter in the industry were invited. Not people that have friends who are friends with some Best Buy employee.

This will be my first time to PAX, and I'm wondering what will they have there. Should I bring cash or is a credit card fine if they're selling anything? Is this like a mini E3 or something?Da_Ryce_One

It's not like E3 in the sense that it's open to the public and there is less industry business done there. You probably shouldn't expect a lot of big game announcements (like E3), but rather a lot of playable demos of games that will be available in the next few weeks/months. But even that is hit and miss. For example, last year's PAX didn't feature any sort of Wii display. On the flip side, this year is larger so one should expect a lot more games on the show floor.

As for cash/credit, there are a few booths that will sell stuff (Penny Arcade merch, import games, etc.). It's not the focus of PAX, but that stuff is definitely there. I would certainly bring some cash, unless you don't want to buy anything.

Anyway ... I have my media pass, so I'll see you there in a few days! :)

IGN named it the best PSP game of 2006, and it had stiff competition (what with Daxter and Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops coming out the same year).

Most of the games you guys mentioned aren't even out yet. Isn't that a problem? You're hyping yourself up for games that may or may not live up to your expectations. Don't get me wrong, those games probably will be great (heck, I can tell you from first-hand experience that Mario Galaxy is a lot of fun), but how can you possibly judge games that aren't out yet?

Leipzig is going to be bigger than E3 this year! I can't waitgrarap

Well, a lot of things are going to be bigger than E3 this year. PAX is going to be bigger than E3. But you're comparing apples to busses. Leipzig's focus isn't the same as E3, especially since it's open to the public.

This game was playable at E3 and it was AWFUL. I know that a lot of people want this to be great, but in its current form it's not. Not at all.

Also ... this is the same trailer that Sega released at E3, it's not really new.

According to the press email Rockstar sent out last week GTA IV won't be playable at the show, at best it would be a trailer or running video. The only games Rockstar says they are promoting will be the Wii version of Table Tennis and the new Midnight Club.

And it got much worse on other sites, too.  Go take a look at 1up's 5.5 review.
