The fact remains its a negative and not to include it while you include minor things in other games is unprofessional.finalfantasy94

If any other 3D platformer had a camera as well designed as Galaxy 2's, I wouldn't have mentioned it in The Bad either. It's not fair to list something small that isn't bad at all just to have something under The Bad. I would be doing a disservice to readers if I made up problems just to have something to say.

Ok im questioning the reviewer. Not on the score, but the fact he left the bad blank. If theres something there put it. Im pretty sure MGS4 and GTA4 had something in the bad. If minor visol quark can be on the the bad then so can a tiny camera problem can. This is coming off very unprofessional..finalfantasy94

The camera is never "bad," so I didn't include it in the list of problems in The Bad. It's not perfect, but it's still really impressive most of the time.

This is reviewed by the same guy that gave LostWinds a 5.5.. and in a review where he basically said that the game has gorgeous environments then directly after said they're ugly... Yeah..Haziqonfire

I said the outdoor enviroments were gorgeous in LostWinds while the underground stuff was ugly. I still don't understand the fascination with that game. I respect that you enjoyed it, but I just did not get into at all. And platformers are my favorite genre.

Wait a minute, he said the game is recommendable, even though he gave it a "meh" score? *scratches head*nintendoboy16

6.5 is not a bad score. The platforming is really well done in The Forgotten Sands, so it's just a matter of if its worth putting up with the camera and combat for. I ultimately did enjoy the game because, well, it's fun, but you really have to decide for yourself how big of an issue those problems are.

Yes I think the reviews are judging from what I've seen and from those who've played. However, from my standpoint I think the reason for it only having an 85 on Metacritic is because of the long developing time, I really think that from a critics perspective a game that took 5 years should have introduces something absolutely revolutionary (unless of course its a sequel to a successful game, then you can bank it in for 90+) instead though Alan Wake was just a fantastic game, and if had been released 2 years ago would have scored a 90-94.TacticalDesire

I can't speak for other reviewers, but I can tell you that I couldn't care less how long a game has been in development for. It just never even enters my mind when I'm playing a game.

8.5 sounds like the perfect score to me.

Some of you guys are way too hung up on the score. This a great game and anyone who was looking forward to it will invaribly enjoy playing through it. It did become a bit predictable at times (the whole adventure leans to the safe side, taking almost no risks) but it's still loads of fun. Just because this is less than a 9 does not mean it's bomb or failure, just that it didn't quite achive the hallowed ground of an Editor's Choice game.

No.....this can't be. Good score but.....what? They praised it to hell and back then dock it for no memorable moments? I are confused GS.KrunkMastaX

It lacks the intangibles that would have bumped it higher. Still a great game, but not quite worthy of a 9.0. Remember, games don't start at a 10 and go down with every problem, they have to earn every point. And this just wasn't quite at that level.

BTW - This thread is pretty darn crowded. I'll be popping in and out, but the chances of me reading every post is pretty slim. If you have a question, just send me a PM instead of hoping I'll find it in this jungle.

question, why do most ps3 exclusives get reviewed by u im just curious as to how the system works cuz i thought it went by genre not by console so would u mind clearing it up.Juiced_Halo

It's really just a coincidence. I love platformers and old-school Zelda, so I'm a good candidate to review Ratchet and 3D Dot Game Heroes. Kevin, on the other hand, plays more shooters than I, so he got Killzone and Chris, who plays lots of military shooters, got MAG. Games are never assigned based on platform because we all play every system.

Wasn't that supposed to be a horror game? :P.

@Tom I'm a little troubled about the disappearing side quests :/.lbjkurono23

Yeah, it's supposed to be creepy, but it's hilarious. Great writing.

As far as the disappearing side quests go, none of them are necessary to finish the game, but you will miss out on special swords and other items unless you scour the map after every dungeon.

I see you gave it the charm emblem, Tom, but what did you think of the retro humor and references to other games?PatchMaster

Yeah, I thought about giving it the humor emblem, but it's "mildly amusing" than "laugh out loud funny." I think charming fits a bit better. Deadly Premonitions is probably the only game so far this year that's really made me laugh.

@Tom hows the replay value?lbjkurono23

I already played through it twice. Lots of hidden stuff to find. There's no second quest, though. How could they forget the second quest?
