You know, there are still plenty of great and entertaining people on the GameSpot staff. I hate to see topics like this that say it's a "sinking ship" because really... it's not.

I think my avatar says it all for me. GameSpot is still the best place on the Internet to read up on video game related stuff. Enough said! :)

I wonder if the Nazis said something similar about the Third Reich. Just sayin'...

If anyone has the c-net phone number let me know.

NearTheEnd

Gladly. Here it is - 415 344 2000. Remember, I encourage only that we demand the truth, not that we act like fools.

[QUOTE="mschnepf"]If this is true, and it really seems like it is, then EVERY other editor at Gamespot should walkout/refuse to come back in until Jeff is rehired. If they do not, then they are all giving the company the message that they are A-OK with being fired if and advertiser doesn't like an honest review of their product on a "review" site. This is total BS and NO ONE at Gamespot should be standing for it!flazzle

I doubt this is the first time an advertiser pressured gamespot.

You don't get it: It can't be fixed. Gamespot is forever tarnished if this is true.

Its like a cheating spouse: you will always think twice: ALWAYS.

Anytime someone brags about their favorite game getting a high score, all a troll has to say is "Eh! They PAID for the high score, idiot!"

And its hard to argue.

All someone has to say is "That game was 'Kane and Lynched! Total fixed all the way!"

You can't unscramble an egg...

Gamespot as a cheating wife is the single greatest strange visual yet on this board. I tip my hat to you, sir.

And remember! Make your voice heard not just here, but at CNet as well! The Dude will not stand for this, man!

Ok guys, its alright to be pissed, but we have no definate confrimation of this. Listing corporate headquaters phone number? Nudgeing other forumites to mass call them? Since when did we turn into #$#% spotchan? Chill, and don't do anything stupid. The only thing thats going to happen toight is that this thread is going to be shut down. jkmetalf

As one of the dudes giving out CNet's phone number (psst - it's 415 344 2000), I feel it's my duty to remind you that CNet is a company supposedly dedicated to bringing us the truth. And all that I am advocating to Gamespot members is that we demand that truth, be it through Gamespot or through CNet. So while I might be joking, I'm deadly serious. We deserve something more thana general "no comment" policy, because the verification or denial of this information directly ties into our right and our demand for the truth not only about games, but about journalistic integrity in general.

So, yes, I'm telling people to call CNet, but not to spam - rather, call them and demand the truth.

Anyone have a mailing address for CNet? I'd like to start writing a generic letter than everyone can cut and paste into Word and mail in. I think our voices are worth the cost of a stamp and an envelope. And personally, I think my voice is well worth the cost of a Mercedes-Benz, but then again, I out-narcissist Narcissus. So go figure.

This is your favorite town drunk reminding you that CNet's phone number is 415 344 2000. And remember to tell 'em Titus sent you.

This... is... GAMESPOT!

Let's see, Jeff was one of the most interesting, engaging, and importiant editors on this site, here since almost the beginning, and he's been fired over ad money.

Nope, no outrage there. :|

I hope people don't just forget about it by tomorrow. We want jeff back!

We will never forget. We will never surrender. We shall fight in the bushes, in the fields, in the rubble. We shall smite our enemies, be they corporate greed or threats to journalistic integrity. We shall throw water balloons frivolously at college women. We shall never use that thing they call a "spork." We shall unite, and together we shall stand. For all that is good, for all that is holy, for all that is Weinerschnitzel, we shall stand. And we shall win.

Remember, gang, you can make your voice heard at CNet just by punching a few numbers and leaving a message at good ol' corporate headquarters. Why, whaddya know - here's the phone number! 415-344-2000. And remember, all our voices together roar louder than Chuck Norris getting hit in the little Chuckies.
