New PC Soon + Sites To Know pt.1

Very soon, I will have a new member to my PC family. I was going to wait until the next nVidia series desktop cards came out and have it done all at once, but certain oppurtunities arose that made it more feasible to go ahead and do it now. Basic specs....

  • Windows 7 64
  • Intel Core i7-3960X (six core extreme, 15MB Cache) (o/c'able up to 4.0GHz)
  • 16 GB RAM (Quad channel DDR3 at 1600MHz)
  • 22" HD Flat Panel (will use it in addition to my current 24")
  • 2x nVidia 1GB GDDR5 GeForce GTX 555 SLI
  • 2TB RAID 1+0 (4x1TB SATA 3Gb/s) 7200 RPM
  • 19 in 1 Media card reader
  • Dual Drives BluRay Burn, DVD+RW
  • 7.1 audio

I will just use my current speaker/subwoofer set up until I order the one I've had my eye on for a while, also still using my same Razer Lycosa keyboard and Razer Naga mouse (still using Razer eXactMat hard surface with gel wrist rest, about to replace with Razer Vespula with gel wrist rest- that's essential for longer sessions). Anyone else have an idea of what you want your next PC to be?, or what would be your crazy dream-build? This is a nice build, but definately not a dream-build! No. So, what about you (given today's current technology)?

Game On :)

*For a while, I've been thinking about doing a blog about cool sites/links, I figured with us all contributing, we will all hopefully find some sites we didn't previously know about that has something helpful or interesting on it. We'll see if gs is cooperating enough to put links up first though!

*Anyhow, this is just a starter list, most people should already know these sites, for those who don't this will inform them, and I plan to post lists of sites off and on and welcome your input as well! *These are all sites I have been to and have had no security issues from them. If you want to visit them while logged into gs, just right click and select 'open in a new window'.

Gs annoys me, DRM, + Quick Hello!

I declare this site is glitchy as it can be. I can't tell you how long I've been trying to post a blog. So much for trying to lower my stress today. To top it off it won't accept a link I was wanting everyone's thoughts on. So, we'll have to do it the long way, go to (this link opens a new window) and at the top of the page, click the word "reviews", scroll down on that page to the 'Wot i think Anno2070' article, and you will see tag words, click the "Ubisoft" tag word- that pulls up an article entitled "Ubisoft BlueByte Changes Anno2070 DRM" read that article. Again, sorry I tried to put the direct link but gs wouldn't take it, even though it worked. Anyhow, check that out, I personally think it's pretty jacked-up what Ubi's up to. Them and that blasted drm- will they ever learn? They've lost plenty sales from their excessive drm's (a few other adjectives apply as well), I couldn't believe how sensitive Anno's was. What are your thoughts?

Well, gs better accept this blog, because I'm not trying again! I'm trying to take a couple days off, I'm exhausted, can only go on fumes so long before you crash and I have one foot in the door. To my Steam friends expect to see me there today :) (unless something else comes up!- I sure hope it doesn't -I need this break!!).

Game On People! -Another thing, what's everyone playing right now??

Free Weekend for Nation Red +75%off

Hey Everyone, this will be quick, and sorry for not being around more but I've got a family situation going on right now and I've been spending time at the hospital, making medical decisions etc. so I'm busy with that. Hopefully my family member will live long enough to recover from this recent injury, but only time will tell.

Anyhow, back to the blog at hand. Steam is hosting a free weekend for Nation Red (load it and play free this weekend) and if you like it and want to buy it, it's also 75% off (even a 4-pack is 75%off). I already own this game. If you somehow miss the free weekend, there's also a demo over at Steam for this game. It's active online, mostly mp but there is a sp mode I enjoy, about 95 achievements, leaderboard, co-op and Local co-op, controller enabled -but I enjoy with my mouse and keyboard just fine, very fast paced action, customization, zombies have guns, 4 game modes, includes the new levels, user designed weapons -it's a well supported game. Check this out on Steam for more details . At 75% off, the game right now is $2.50.

Also this weekend on Steam, the Dead Space series is 75%off, individually or the Dead Space pack -both at 75%off.

Check out Steam for all sales/details. See you all later *waves*

Short and Sweet + Review information

I'm in the process of a couple reviews. What are the rest of you up to? Anyone happily playing newly acquired games from the holiday sales?

So.... what goes on? Yes, I'm nosey, deal with it (lol). :)

P.S. My review is up, but- for some reason gs won't accept my score of 7.5, whenever I put that, it keeps popping a window up saying 'enter a score', so I had to say 7.0, I'll keep trying to change it, but know it's a 7.5 in the meantime! Also, I've included screenshots of the game as well. **Now it accepts the score but it won't take the extra information about how to access the bonus content- gs is really getting annoying to deal with. *In case anyone looks here for how- access bonus content in the 'bonus' section of the menu, when prompted for the codes, input whichever you are accessing -the codes are sp-village (for village map) and sp-street (for the street map).

New Releases -Big Sale!

Are you one of those 'cheap' gamers? :) You know the type I'm talking about, the type that never buys a new release until it's on sale. Are you tired of having to wait sometimes a year or better for that to happen? Well, Steam has some big new releases on sale right now. Here's a few examples:

  • SKYRIM 33% OFF- $40.19
  • SAINT'S ROW THE THIRD 33% OFF $33.49
  • TERRARIA 75% OFF $2.49

There's much more so go check it out -I think it's the last day. :)

P.S. Gabe's the man. * to game......*

New Year's Eve Blog

Happy New Year Everyone- I'll see it in a little over an hour (east coast, USA).

I'm too exhausted to type, I just wanted to wish everyone well. So, I'll see you all next year, refreshed. (Been a long couple days!).

To my friends toasting the new year and a few other things (I remember those days :) ), just remember to let someone sober drive.

Steam Winner :)

While Steam isn't still doing the 'Daily Wishlist Giveaway' they are still giving their users chances to win or earn games for free and some at a reduced price. After a late night on my PC last night, I have more than an awesome start to my Roller Coaster Park to show for it- I noticed when I was getting ready to log off of Steam that I had a gift, I look in there, and I had a free game, a 50% off coupon to use on a game and some extra 'coal' (Steam is using coal to get games- See Steam for details "The Great Gift Pile"). I've clearly won these randomly. My point here? If you are a Steam user/member or wish to become one, don't forget to log on daily to see if you're the next random winner- or you can 'earn' it with getting/having certain game achievements. for details.

P.S. Is anyone else having trouble uploading images -only on this site? I uploaded some yesterday and they still aren't showing, and that's after seeing gs's confirmation after the upload. -I guess I'm to assume they'll eventually show up-?

Merry Christmas fellow Gamespotters

*Jesus is the reason for the season*

To my friends of other faiths (Jewish etc., I hope you have safe holidays as well :) -I have all kinds of friends, I can be cool with just about anyone :)).

I hope everyone has a safe day today and for those who get a few days off and plan to do some gaming, have fun with that. I am currently replaying Morrowind GOTY and a few others as I wait for Skyrim to get patched, though I do still play it off and on. It's just annoying! (Really hope they add some directx11 support too in a future patch- seriously, it's almost 2012!!).

I'll be on scarcely for a while until the New Year, but I do plan to write up a few reviews I've been meaning to do, after a very well deserved break. Stay safe everyone! :)

FREE WEEKEND for Nuclear Dawn on STEAM

For those of you who have been wanting to give Nuclear Dawn a spin before putting money down on it, now is your chance! I know a lot of people wanting to try this game out- this weekend Nuclear Dawn is free to try out on STEAM. Yes free now until Sunday at 1pm PST (Steam's times are west coast because they're located in Washington state,USA).

If you're somehow not familiar with Nuclear Dawn, it's an action(fps)/strategy combination, but the strategy elements are light and easy to pick up even if you're not a strategy veteran. That shouldn't deter you, but, why take my word for it?- try it free on STEAM to see if it's up your alley- it's free, try it, if you like it- it's also on sale for those who want to buy it, 40% off at the price of $11.99 for the single game, or if you want to get the 4 pack for you and your friends, it's also 40% of at $35.99 which is a nice price for a 4 pack. Have a MAC?, Nuclear Dawn didn't leave you out, it's a "STEAMPLAY" game, meaning, buy it once on a PC or MAC and you can play it on both those platforms with only the single (1) purchase. (See STEAM for a listing of their catalog of STEAMPLAY games). Also includes STEAM achievements, and an active group in STEAM's communities with regular updates. **Also - you can earn Double XP all weekend ;) Good to help newbies jump start.

P.S. Don't forget to stop by STEAM daily for their "Daily Wishlist Giveaway" (Details in my last blog or on STEAM).

Steam's Daily Wishlist Giveaways

Just in case some of you haven't noticed, Steam has started a 'daily wishlist giveaway', which means each day, 10 people (a.k.a. Steam users/members) will win their top 10 games off their wishlists. Pretty awesome right (Gabe is the man!). To be eligible, obviously you need a Steam account, and to have at least 10 games on your wishlist, and lastly each day you need to visit the featured daily deal's gamepage (which is clearly marked on the homepage as such). This 'Daily Wishlist Giveaway' started on the first and only says 'into the holiday season' so I don't know if that means until New Year's or what, but, sounds like an easy way to earn 10 games the legal way :) So if you don't already have 10 items on your Steam wishlist, add them, check the featured games page each day, you'll lose nothing, but could gain 10 games of your own choosing!
