I wouldn't be surprised if there is enough of a psychological effect to even such a tiny discount to make it worth trying. Even though, rationally, there's no significant price difference there, when people skim over prices, any promise of savings draws people's attention. There may be no relation to this case, but it's worth remembering that Valve did hire an experimental psychologist last year to help them make their Steam sales even more effective.

If possible, play something you haven't played before. Of your choices there, I give Okage a thumbs down, Rogue Galaxy a thumb sideways, and Legend of Dragoon a thumbs up.

[QUOTE="dan_plus_o"]Windows does not use it by defaultB45AK

it doesnt? I thought you could turn it off by going to mouse settings>pointer options and unchecking enhance pointer precesion. Is mouse acceleration something else?

You're right that Windows has mouse acceleration as an optional feature, however, it is turned off by default.

You could try running the game in a borderless window, so that your computer doesn't have to make transitions into and out of fullscreen mode. I do this and it makes ALT+TAB'ing instantaneous with no downsides. To do this, go to your Games tab, then right-click on Left 4 Dead 2, then click Properties. Next, click the button that says "Set launch options", then type in the following:

-windowed -noborder

Bonus tip: also add the launch option -novid to skip the intro videos when starting up the game. Convenient.

For fairly contemporary stuff, I'd say all of Keita Takahashi's stuff (Katamari and Noby Noby Boy), Goichi Suda's stuff (Killer 7, No More Heroes 1 & 2), and Hideki Kamiya's latest (Bayonetta). You know what they say about Japan and crazy. P.S. All the games above happen to also be pretty good in their own right.

Here's a rough analogy: Fallout: New Vegas is to Fallout 3 as GTA: Vice City was to GTA 3. It's the same engine and core gameplay with a new story, setting, and other content. Essentially, this is a sequel where they want people to align their expectations with what Fallout 3 offered rather than the order of magnitude higher that people might expect from a Fallout 4.

There's a lesson to be learned here.

Divine Divinity (a new remastered version was just released a month ago exclusively on GOG for $6: http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/divine_divinity)

Although light on story, there are also action-RPGs, among the best of which are probably:

Diablo II with the Lord of Destruction expansion

Torchlight
