[QUOTE="xaos"][QUOTE="Teenaged"][QUOTE="Paladin_King"]what the heck? I'm from Canada and over there it's Nye-key as well. Are you guys actually saying no second syllable? I've honestly never even heard that.Hungry_bunnyHow to you spell "bike"? Bye-Key?
No, but "bike" isn't a borrowed proper name from Greek... here's a bit more on the sporting goods company, including their pronunciationAw man, this is almost as big of a shock as the time I learned that "Porsche" is pronounced "por-schuh"
Yes, but as porsche is a german company, every letter in the word is pronounced, but on the contrary, Nike is an american company where only main phonics are pronounced, like bike etc. If bike was Bike in German It would be pronounced Bikeh
[QUOTE="Thrifty94"][QUOTE="AngeldeLys"]Where in Canada are you from? Maybe it's a regional accent thing.
I've always heard "Nike", as I said, and I'm from Montréal, Québec.
I'm Francophone, but all the Allophones and Anglophones I've known from here have said it the same. I only heard it differently in some places outside of the province.

Allophones and Anglophones = French Speakers and English Speakers?
