Going all in on PC gaming last gen has ruined 30 fps for me. I tried playing Forza Horizon 5 on quality mode on the Series X just so I could see its implementation of ray tracing personally and...yuck. Back to performance mode immediately. So it's 60 fps and above now, if I have the option.

@girlusocrazy: The days of consoles having that sort of "pick up and play" ease are long over. They're basically mini PCs at this point given the constant online check ins, DRM and ubiquity of patches games need nowadays.

Y'all didn't see this coming? Sony couldn't just leave all that potential PC audience money on the table forever.

Guess PS5 is no longer necessary now, as was the case for Xbox consoles back when Microsoft went all-in on both platforms, right?

Anyone with common sense would know that Sony would be making similar moves if they had the cash, but they don't, so they make smaller moves. Just look at all of the other acquisitions they've made as of late. Sony isn't any less buy-happy than Microsoft is. If anything, I'd say they're even MORE so than Microsoft. See: All of the third-party exclusives they've gotten from the likes of Activision (Call of Duty and Destiny deals from the PS4 days), Square-Enix (FF7 Remake, Forspoken, plenty of others) and even companies Microsoft owns now (Ghostwire Tokyo, Deathloop, among others). Don't act like Sony doesn't throw money around as aggressively as Microsoft.

Not much would change but I was told Sony doesn't buy publishers so 🤷

Maybe if a 3 trillion dollar company didn't start money hatting the industry things would be different 😎

What? 😂

Sony has been money-hatting since before Microsoft even entered the gaming console space. Microsoft just has deeper pockets.

Most sold or popular doesn't mean it's the best or even a better sim. Pretty sure iRacing, rFactor 2 and Asseto Corsa wipes the floor with GT/Forza in terms of simulation.

Forza Motorsport is basically the arcade version of GT/Asseto Corsa. Streamlined career mode and a casual online lobby. Some prefer just to drive fast and ram people and its pretty fine. Forza sense of speed is great and their car lineup is very diverse.

Oh please.

Call me when t-boning your opponent going into a corner at 150 mph actually has lasting consequences for your car's performance. Forza Motorsport is hardly the "lesser" of the two in the simulation department.

Why? No point calling you cause you missing the point of GT. GT has its audience that appreciates what the game offers. Its not for everyone and thats fine.

I've been playing GT since GT4 and Forza since the first one on the original Xbox. I understand the "point" of the two games just fine. I don't have a problem with people liking GT more than Forza but comparing the two and calling Forza the "arcade version" of GT and Assetto Corsa when GT doesn't even try to properly simulate mechanical damage is objectively false. Hell, lumping GT in with Assetto Corsa in the first place is rather ludicrous to me since Assetto Corsa, like many sims that got their start on PC (or are ONLY on PC) such as rFactor 2 and iRacing are leaps and bounds ahead of GT and Forza in terms of realism.

Hardly a surprise. Gran Turismo has always had a ton of brand loyalty and Sony intentionally hid the microntransactions before the game's release so reviewers couldn't mention it in their reviews. It wasn't until after the game had released and fans bought the game that the microtransaction nonsense and obscene grinding required to afford top end cars without them before PD mercifully came in and boosted race and circuit experience payouts but only after the intense and well-deserved backlash they received.

I'm hardly surprised to see Sony fanboys cheering the success of such blatantly anti-consumer tactics but I will say I didn't expect praise of this magnitude. Anything for bragging rights, I guess.

@The_Game21x: You haven't played GT online have you? There are consequences. And in terms of driving physics, yes Forza is the lesser of the two.

Sure I have. And I'm not talking about penalties. I'm talking about actually damaging your car through reckless driving. Sport mode enforces clean driving, regular multiplayer, anything goes.

And no, Forza is not the lesser of the two on the track. Forza's tire model is still worlds beyond GT's frustratingly ancient model, its tuning options are deeper and more involved. GT7 (until patch 1.13) had annoying snap oversteer in RWD vehicles (especially MR cars) which they had to come in and fix by basically reverting to GT Sport's physics model. It's still good but superior to Forza? Meh.

Quite strange that a driving sim gamer plays arcade with game on consoles rather than, you know play actual driving sims on PC.

Its not strange at all in fact its stranger non sim fans calling out things they dont know, showing the usual noob they are. GT is the most sold/popular sim racing game of all time but only available on 1 family system. On top of that lot of sim game accessory is cross compatible between PC and PS so you getting mostly the same experience on whatever platform you choose. I play Forza on PC.

From what I gathering here, GT 7 > Forza. Am I right?

You got it backways. Forza has always been better than GT.

Yep.
