I'm still intrigued. If it's free to play, why not give it a try?

Neither. I'm selling my PS3 soon, going back to PC-only. I may pick up an Nvidia Shield, though.

This is good news. I liked CoH, and I still play it every now and then.

I shake my head.

Why?

This is idiotic and only drives bad press for the console. Sony's going to win the PR war now.

I've yet to actually hear a single intelligent case against Windows 8.

I've said, rather empirically, that Windows 8 uses the same, if not fewer, clicks to get to the exact same place in the menu as would Windows 7. Yes, its in a different place, and you might have to, shockingly, readjust to its location - but it is still functionally equivalent to Windows 7.

And as i've repeated about a million times: Windows key + first three or 4 letters = fastest way to access any program in Vista, 7 or 8. How is this not getting through your heads?

What is it that you do that you spend so much time in the start menu rather than actually using software you install in your OS?

I really, genuinely, want to know.

Here's the issue: Once you get the hang of it, Windows 8 is perfectly fine. But in a world where first impressions count, it's not fine. For example, when I started using the Consumer Preview 1.5 years ago, one of my first questions was: How do I shut down the computer? There's not Start menu! I spent thirty minutes trying to figure it out... Only to find that it was hidden under the Settings charm.

Hidden interfaces are not good interfaces, and in a world where first impressions count, making sure that everything is easily accessible is very important.

The Witcher 2 was easily one of the best games of 2011. I didn't find Foltest's death to be all that moving, but whatever. It is still quite a scene to behold.

I need to replay the damn thing. When is the sequel coming out again? 2014?

The thing about Metro is that it is inherently unintuitive. Since it relies so heavily on swiping in from the sides and corners, people figure things out my accident or by instruction, not by exploring the UI for themselves.

What Microsoft should do is allow Windows 8 to be flexible enough so that desktop users can about their usual paradigms, and tablet users can use all of the fancy sideswiping stuff. No Metro if a touchscreen is not detected, and Metro if a touchscreen is detected. Easy enough. People are not ready for a unified interface just yet.

I like Windows 8, and it seems that 8.1 will fix quite a few things. I do use Windows 8 on a tablet (a Surface Pro), and I love it, but the experience still feels very half-baked compared with the experience I get from an iPad.

Meh. I thought the glass effect was rather tacky anyway. I think they should get rid of the semi-transparency on the taskbar in Windows 8 so that it fits in with the rest of the theme (for example, the bars around the windows are not semi-transparent).

Intel, generally. Haswell is allegedly going to be pretty beastly from a power consumption standpoint.

Just a poll to get a feel for what people might be picking up this holiday season.

Personally, since I am a PC gamer already, I'm thinking about the Playstation 4 to complete my home theater setup and maybe for the occasional PS4 exclusive. But the Xbox One has a very nice interface (though I don't want to pay for Xbox Live).
