When I buy a laptop, I value things like portability and style.

Unfortunately, gaming laptops are huge, not very stylish, and run hot.

Ultimately, I'd rather rely on lowering the settings and relying on Intel's integrated graphics to see me through rather than deal with a gaming laptop. The tradeoff (especially in terms of portability and heat) isn't that bad.

Logitech K800. I love the backlit keys and the fact that it's wireless.

I bought a hard copy from Newegg for $42 because it was cheaper.

I do. It's a good way to get automatic driver updates, but other than that, I don't use its other functions.

I did a clean install of the 8.1 RTM on my laptop when it RTM'd. Nice update with some much-needed UI tweaks.

I plan to do a clean install on my rig over the weekend.

i5 is good enough for gaming. I recently picked up the cheapest Haswell quad-core in the lineup (i5-4430) and it has been great, even with the stock cooler.

I have an older Intel SSD for use as a boot drive, but all of my games go on my 2TB Caviar Black drive from WDC.

I'd rather have a separate hardware board.

Steam boxes are kind of moot for people who already have gaming rigs, like me. But I did sign up for the beta anyways. Hopefully I get lucky!
