No. I wouldn't always rather play a fresh and original new IP, over an IP that has been through its second or more iteration. A series IP isn't as much of a gamble, as a new and original one--I tend to feel alot more comfortable when a game I highly enjoyed, is build upon the success of it's predecessor. But either way, im always open to trying out new and original IPs(latest favorite being "Bully" if that counts). Series IPs began at those stages once as well I suppose--but im a pretty casual gamer.
I don't buy more then two to three games a year. So that's pretty much my reason for prefering the series IP's--since they already tend to be alot more established, familiar, and easier to take a risk buying.
