I'm sure they'll kill the servers for game downloads before long, but at least now I know it's coming. My PSP has basically been a portable PS1 since I found out about the online store and there's still so many great titles I want to try without having to resort to emulators.
Command & Conquer: Renegade has an opening I keep coming back to to this day. It showcased everything you were hoping to see in a first-person C&C experienced, first fighting off NOD troops with GDI forces all around you, riding a humvee past a NOD Tiberium field, and then witnessing an all-out assault on a NOD base complete with an ION cannon strike. It made you feel like you were one small unit in a massive playfield. It was also the first time I played an FPS with friendly AI (completely missed out on Half-Life and Medal of Honor) and was blown away by how they communicated like real people.
It doesn't even really have QTEs, it just has a couple Simon game boards overlaying a b-movie. There's no correlation between the buttons you press and what happens onscreen.
Got to admit I got a little misty-eyed at the father watching the ships take off. Shame there's no chance in hell this game will have ending cinematics.
