What I find the most troubling is that person who said why doesn't Yoshi have nipples...do people really not know that reptiles/dinosaurs don't have nipples???

@NoAngle @TStilwell Because whatever they call this system now has proven to be counter-intuitive to me. I made the switch when I bought a new laptop about seven months ago and I have found that while the W8 system may be good for touch-screen, it proves to be an annoying gimmick when are you trying to use your computer for non-touch-screen purposes, like getting actual work done. If you do want to use the current start menu, it does not tree, so you end up having to sort through every program and file you have to be able to find what you are looking for. Ultimately, I have done what I can to try and simulate the W7 experience with this system. I get stuff done in spite of W8, but because of it.

@sadscooterpipe @TStilwell Small world! Yes, and I earned my stripes this year. We didn't get out until June 20th, so I am still licking my wounds. I love both of those developers. I didn't really get into Borderlands. Kind of felt like a MMO without the "O" part. I love Bioshock, the Mass Effect series, and the Elder Scrolls, among others. If I am going to drop $65 on a game, I want my money's worth. I just went back and I am working my way through the Assassin's Creed series. LOVE it. Especially being a history teacher, it is almost good enough to bring into the classroom if not just for the architecture.

Good luck and Godspeed to you, sir. Enjoy your well-deserved time off and lets hope that rational heads will keep our hobby alive.

@sadscooterpipe @TStilwell I don't know if it is wiser but it is definitely older. I guess I just do not get where the industry is going. We use to (and I still) buy consoles so I can play great games. Games are getting shorter and shorter and all of the focus seems to be on multiplayer. If I wanted to listen to a 12-year old try and act like a "big boy" I'd go to work (I am a teacher). Overall, it just seems like all of the console companies are treating the consumer as a menace rather than the focus of the industry. I swallowed the Kool-Aid and bought one of the systems (I won't say which one because it really doesn't matter) but I am really nervous about this console generation and its ability to sustain itself.

I am not going to play fan-service. I had all three consoles of the last generation and had problems with all of them. Some are complaining that the only difference in the next generation is that we will get better graphics. That is ALL we have ever gotten with a new generation. The ability to write a good game does not come with technology but in the writing skill of the development team. Having said that, this is one of the worse times I can think of to introduce a $500 console. With a crushing economy, people have to remember that these are still toys. I love gaming as much as the next guy and I have been playing for over 25 years, but it is getting more and more difficult to justify such large expenses when the entire industry has been struggling to find a direction in the later half of the current generation. I will be really upset if I fork out this much money and I keep seeing the same crap games that have been getting so much play recently.

I think adding choice to any gaming experience is a good thing as long as the mechanics are done well. I have not beaten it yet, but I have found Dishonored to be a very enjoyable game. I remember the old Thief games when they came out and I remember being intrigued by the concept but very frustrated by the execution. The stealth gameplay way too rigid for me and it made the game not enjoyable. I think too many modern games are becoming nothing but run-and-gun and that is robbing something from the gaming community as a whole. It is as if every movie that came out was Predator or Tango & Cash. Variety is the spice of life. If I have to kill one more Eastern European terrorist or mindless alien, I think I am going to lose it.
