Just need some help about the dreaded YLOD. My PS3 died with it last night and I've been looking at options and stuff. Imo what I'll do is just ditch all the save games (ohhh the pain) and buy a PS3 Slim and start over, remembering to keep my data backed up in future. Two questions before I commit to anything though (pfft, I can't afford to do anything about it for months anyway):
1. I bought an expansion on PSN for Fallout 3 a few months ago. Is this expansion assigned to my PSN ID or stuck on my dead PS3? Will I be able to download it to a new console without paying *again*? Something tells me no.
2. My PS3 died while I was playing Oblivion. So... the disk is still in the console. Any way to get this out? I'd rather do it on the cheap but if the process of opening the PS3 is heavily involved I don't really trust myself to damage something that I could potentially sell for parts.
In fact, extra question:
3. What in god's name do I do with the PS3 I have now?? I'm weird about selling something that has so much of my data on there (ie. friends lists, saved games, log in details, music, films etc.). Could I get someone to extract the hard drive then get it sold off as parts or what?
Grrr, I hate YLOD. I would just go and get my PS3 repaired (I've found somewhere that'll get it fixed for just under £60, that's including postage there and back) but I don't trust it to not balls up again. And let's be honest... getting a new console is exciting. Right now I have an obese 60GB console. Any help would be appreciated.
