There is no 586a or 586b codes on my wire..I under stand the crossover is 586a and 586b on the same wire and the straight though is 586a and 586a at the other end. Is the straight through better then the crossover cable or the other way around or are they both equal  The cable i have has 8 wires and is the straight through type i believe.White, pink, green and white, blue, blue and white, green, brown and white and finally brown...I think it works because it got as far as going past the network connecting page and into the server dnas page i dont know will have to keep trying and by a blue rj45 cable...
SunzyMan's forum posts
I got this cable with it which says CAT5 patch r7j304 ****** .

I got my zoom x4 which is adsl router, lan and gateway and what a misson all this really is...
I followed the instructions in the book and connect to web withing 5 minutes no problems.
connect via adsl and the usb port as it said i could then i went too there site and asked about connecting to a Ps2 via the lan cable then there was massive amouts of ip and dns address to change for the server.
Then i had to reboot the modem and turn it off and plug it into the ps2....
Had gt4 playing and it got past the 1st stage and then dident get any where just said waiting for a connection and then i couldent connect to the internet via the pc as it said Limited or no connection.
So now im just lost and am searching for some info on the zoom web site and also the cnet sites.....
When i loaded the gt4 i dident get to config setting because i have no start up disc :S
Saga continues
saw it in another post.Cant you just get the rj45 cable plug that usb network adaptor in to a usb port in the computer and away you go !
Other way im gonna try is to get a modem router which will still let me connect via the rj11 adsl cable but then add a Rj45 cable from the same modem to the back of the slim line ? If it works i will get a picture if it dosent work ill just cry and try again when i feel like it !?!I see you help alot of people out with this topic alone :) Just a little stumped as my connection now is via rj11 cable ?
