[QUOTE="xsubtownerx"][QUOTE="Lach0121"][QUOTE="xsubtownerx"][QUOTE="Lach0121"][QUOTE="xsubtownerx"][QUOTE="Lach0121"] [QUOTE="GabrielVan"]No, it really wouldn't be that beneficial. Honestly, the difference between HDMI and Composite on even 1080p TVs is hardly even noticable. The XBox360 uses an older version of HDMI, which is less clear than the newer version that you'll see on almost any upconvert player, the PS3, or Blu-Ray/HD-DVD players. Stick with composite.Lach0121
he means component not composite, composite is the yellow rca, component is red green and blue, look this is how it works.ok component = hd with great color. vga = hd with great resolution, not so great a color, the hdmi on the 360= literally like a hybrid between the 2, almost as good resolution as the vga, and as good color as component, but the only reason why the vga looks clearer, is because your 720p tvs are not actually 720p, they are 768p, which is why they all say 1360x768 on them. and the only way you can get that resoution out of the 360 is to use the vga cable.
I have that resolution with HDMI.
not with the 360 you dont. hdmi on the 360 has only 4 resolutions. 480p-720p-1080i-1080p, it does not give you the option to have the 360 output in 1360x768 with the hdmi.Um, yes it does. I have it right now. It's under "optimal".. I have 3 choices.
what are you talking about on the 360 (i have the elite) and under dispay it gives you 4 choices 480p-720p-1080i-1080p, thats it hell i dont even see an optimal setting. please tell me exactly how to get there i would love to play these games at 768p instead of 720 with my hdmi cable.I didn't do anything to get it there. It was just there when I plugged my Elite with HDMI to my TV. What kind of TV do you have?
oh ok i see what is happening, your tv is upconverting the 720p signal from your 360 to 768.... but your 360 is still only outputting to 720, just your tv is upconverting it to be 768. what i was referring to is having a 768 signal before it ever leaves the 360.... by the way i have a ollevia 32 inch 1360x768 lcd hdtv. when you go under the maintenence blade on your 360 and you look at the display settings you will see that it is a 720p signal comming out of the 360, which in turn gets upscalled to 1360x768 on your tv.No it isnt. The HDMI slot 2 on my Samsung HDTV allows the 360 to output a DVI signal of 1360x768 rather than the standard 1280x720. HDMI is basically just DVI with audio. If you plug your 360 into a DVI monitor with a HDMI-DVI adapter you'd see the same thing.
The Optimal resolution is only available when your TV accepts the DVI signal resolution via HDMI, mine does but only on HDMI port 2. Heres a picture of the option:
