Fact is, as much as I enjoyed Dragon Age, it was already stated to be a "spiritual sequel" to Baldur's Gate. Aside from that, it takes a huge part of its story structure straight from KOTOR and ME. The majority of people who honestly refuse to see this are the WRPG campers who are too busy trying to prove that JRPGs suck that they can't accept their own preferred sub-genre has its own set of flaws. Yeah but since when was taking story structure a bad thing? Developers do it all the time. Jrpgs as well as Wrpgs. Don't sit there and call people fanboys because they disagree with you though.
