@Phelaidar: I mean that's a pretty negative way of looking at it. It is entirely possible that some aspect of it is an effort to make the game profitable, or some would say simply successful, but let's look at it another way: RE6 didn't work. RE5 barely worked either. Amnesia does. What's wrong with them realizing that during their efforts to make, not just a profitable game, but a truly great game that is truly terrifying.

Now personally, I find the older RE games pretty scary. I loved 1, 2, Code Veronica, and 3, and even to this day I find them scary. I don't find them as scary as Silent Hill 1, 2, and 3, largely because the setting in the latter series is just infinitely more terrifying.

Now as for Amnesia, that game terrifies me so much that I still haven't managed to play longer than an hour of it, despite the fact that I very much want to.

So whether it's truly an artistic move or simply just a business move, it's the right move, and looking at it negatively is not what we need in this day and age. I say that it's about time that they do it right, no matter how long it's taken, no matter what the true reason for their decision to do it is, I just simply don't care, so long as it's done right.

And you could also say be pessimistic and say that people bought REO and REmastered because it was better than what was on offer, rather than it being actually scary anymore, but let's not get into that. =)

@Kjranu That's a shame because it adds a lot to the game and it's one of the main factors that contributes to this expansion being so wonderful. First expansion since BC that's felt even remotely close to Vanilla.

@atlassys8 Read the pros and cons, the number score is meaningless.

@lostl0ok I imagine with that particular genre, it's better to go to some other website that specializes in nothing but that. Much in the same way that I go to Gamespot for reviews of every game except when it's an MMO. For that genre I tend to stick to various trusted youtubers, who play it for a lot longer and therefore have a much better idea of if it's worth investing in.

Using Smash Bros. as an example, because that's the only fighting game I personally enjoy playing, I'm happy to see that it got a great score. But when it comes to actually buying it I'm going to get others opinions on it in comparison to Project M, to see if it's worth getting from a competitive stand point.

@warriors30 I tend to see the numerical score as a first glance, to get you interested. It's like "oh, Unity got a ___, let's check it out". Same deal when you see like a 2 or a 3.

At the end of the day the pros and cons are what truly matter. Would be nice if more people realized that.

@MJ12-Conspiracy If you spend 8 hours a day, say 2-3 days a week for a month in order to get special shiny chest-plate of doom, what is it worth to you after that much work? Then what if you got that same chest-plate after 5 minutes of questing, what is it worth then?

@Shunten @IanNottinghamX It wasn't that it was necessarily better. It was a breath of fresh air to some I'm sure, as it kind of began this new age of MMOs that cater to a more casual crowd. Before that you just had games like EQ and SWG, which were and still are (emulators) truly amazing and in some ways are much better than WoW. Really it's not WoW's fault, it's the gamers fault. They've been spoiled and so now expect a certain amount of ease and simplicity out of an MMO. It's that "I want it now" mentality.

@Monsterkillah Well... the reason they don't have decimals anymore is because they're only slightly less arbitrary than the number system they use now...

I wish people would realize that the pros and cons and the actual review are the only thing that matter. If you're so simple as to need a 1-10 number to tell you whether you should buy it then you're lost.

@VGjunkie87 Score doesn't matter.

What I'm really wondering though is why they didn't take a bit longer to work on the game. Didn't 3 only come out like a year ago?
