[QUOTE="SonyIsh6Fotta"]That is straight from the ign.com SSFIV guide pageRandoIph
IGN is not a credible source of information on fighting games. Neither in terms of quality or game strategy.

May I ask you why? I'm sure they just didn't make that up and post it on their website, I'm sure they played the game for themselves and saw it for what it was. I could see if it was an opinion based statement but it's not, they are telling you in black and white Sagat is a dominant character and anyone who's played that game including myself will most likely agree.

[QUOTE="JLF1"]The problem is that Capcom has been pretty awful in making people learn their fighting games. The only way to learn is to fight with other people. What a lot of people who bought SF4 learned was that you basically had to be there at the start with SF2 15-20 years ago.Dan_Lionheart

Well that's just not true. Aside from the fact that SF2, 3, and 4 are entirely different games, tons of people have jumped on board with new Street Fighter games and become competent at it. The trial mode gives some fundamentals to players for learning that other fighting games should have or have mimicked. In comparison to Tekken, which is terrible at teaching players how to play the game. The difference is that Tekken is more of a random fighter than most so people can get away with mashing and winning compared to virtually any other fighter on the market.

It's called Practice Mode with a list of every move for the selected character, learn the moves yourself and come up with your own combos and juggles. That would be the best strategy as they would be yours and nobody else's, if the game"taught" everyone then everybody would have the same strategy and do the same moves, each Tekken character has a very diverse move set unlike SFwith there few moves per character.Take the time to learn your character or don't waste your time playing.

If something works, people will use it until you change your strategy to work around it. So you will have to learn to be better at the game. Also, most people don't understand that there is a difference between spamming and zoning.

[QUOTE="SonyIsh6Fotta"]

It's one of the reasons I don't enjoy SF as much as I enjoy Tekken, they have characters that have an advantage over others, which makes people flock to them, why use a different character if I know Ryu, Ken and Sagat are easier to use and cause the most damage? In Tekken it doesn't matter who you pick it's how good you are.

Dan_Lionheart

This isn't true at all. As long as characters are different in fighting games, there will always be some who are better than others, and some who are worse. It's merely based on the player's knowledge of the game itself as to whether or not they understand this. It's generally accepted in Tekken 6 for example, that Steve, Bob, Lars, and Nina are the best characters in the game. It is also accepted that the bears, Zafina, and Yoshimitsu are some of the worst in the game. Of course this doesn't mean you can't win with characters other than the ones perceived to be good in fighting games, but there are always people with advantages or an overall easier time winning than others. On top of that, Ryu, Ken, and Sagat are easy to use, but do not cause the most damage. Using Super Street Fighter IV as an example, the majority of the roster has a fighting chance against each other.

The notion some people have thinking that people playing to win aren't having fun is crazy. Some people do things, and then some people do things and strive to be as good as they can be at them. That's how it is for any sport, and any competitive game. The difference is that people who play games casually are the only group of people who look down on ones who do so competitively, which is silly. You would never see someone who enjoys playing basketball casually with friends say something like, "Michael Jordan doesn't have fun in games by playing so serious and spamming hard defense and drives to the lane." It would be a completely retarded statement.

Sagat is not a complicated character. And yet, he is, at present, considered to be the most devastating fighter in the Street Fighter IV roster. The two elements of Sagat's game that make him so powerful are his Tiger Shots and his easily comboable ultra which deals massive damage.

Sagat's Tiger Shots are faster than any other character's projectile in the game, which means that you can dominate a projectile war against pretty much everybody.

That is straight from the ign.com SSFIV guide page, you show me some evidence that says Lars, Bob, Nina, and Steve are the best in the game, I have been playing Tekken for years and have won alot of battles but lost alot also, I'm referring to online of course and it was never because of which character that person picked, but their skill.Do you really know what your talking about? I know for a fact Steve is one of the most predictable players in that game, yes he is fast but easy to defer especially if you have a character that can parry punches i.e. Feng, which that's all he has is punches.

I want some footage of the other version, I don't want my Tekken guys to play like SF guys or I will get owned :( but other than that looks cool to me, day 1 buy, let the hype begin.
