I'm getting a couple games off Steam this weekend, and I noticed Far Cry 2 is half-price; been wanting to play it for a while, but I'mjust wondering if it's like STALKER at all. For instance is it very atmospheric and immersive, is it as tactical ETC.
It was very smoothly executed and had fantastic visuals and all, yet, I thought it was just to repetetive in nature - turning into more of a fancy looking corridore shooter with hardly any variety. It had a couple of novel features like the cover system - which rocked by the way - and the multiplayer was immersive, but it was pretty standard aside from that, with hardly anything new: Regenerating Health; check, Iron - Sights; check, Shotguns, Pistols, SMG, Machine Guns; Check.
It's actually going to be releases pretty soon on PC and Mac, in the form of the Sith Edition.
P.S. A new game in the JK series would rock, as long as they poured some further effort into making it current, rather than just a better looking remake, which would pretty much flop on the market judging by today's gameplay standards...
I play tones of different types of games, ranging all the way from most big shooters on the market [Half Life, Halo, CSS, Crysis, Stalker, Wolfenstein, Quake Wars, UT3 ETC] to RPG's and strategy games like NWN, Dungeon Siege, Age of Empires, ETC...
P.S. Cool thread, a nice way to connect Gamespot users.
Whether you will like it or not, is realy a question of whether you prefer atmosphere > heavy action, or the other way round. Shadow of Chernobyl had a focus on making your skin crawl, while Clear Sky was slightly more accessible gameplay - wise, I think.
The old demo was pure adventure, the new demo is pure action - it will be a mix of both - I assure you - they just had to show a lot of fast apced action for the crowd in order to keep everyone's attention I guess...
The part I wasn't to keen on, was the moment when the camera zoomed in on the shadow creature like a light hearted console RPG game...
Yeah I still play Gears once in a while - not that Gears of War 2 is bad - I just prefer the style of the original sometimes, just for old times' sake...
Condemned was a very freaky game - so was Dark Corner of The Earth, a game published by Bethesda [Cthulhu Mythos]... Fatal Frame is also pretty nasty...
