I was about 5 seconds away from pre-ordering the game (I played dead space 1 and 2), I had typed in my credit card information and everything. Then I decided to give it one more look before purchasing, because I like to research the games I'm buying, specifically due to reasons I'm about to mention below.
Then I see that this game will have micro-transactions. The first thing I think is, "LOL you've got to be kidding me." So I research this further and I find an article and some videos further explaining this. I'd like to quote a few of them.
"the studio will simply be addressing the requests of players that prefer to use micro-transactions within a game"
First of all, nobody requested this. They don't even have a forum for players to make such requests in the first place. Are you kidding me?
"Theres a lot of players out there, especially players coming from mobile games, who are accustomed to micro-transactions. Theyre like I need this now, I want this now."
Does this developer realize that they squeeze you and pressure you into buying such things on purpose with terrible gameplay that limits you and slows what you can do in the game down on purpose? Mobile games such as this that are on ipads or in F2P games have purposely added such gameplay styled mechanics on PURPOSE to make the person feel like they need or want to spend money to progress or play the game at a normal non-bs pace. Nobody has a "I need this now, I want this now" policy in gaming, otherwise all games would become boring after 5 minutes of playing them. Dead space is also about survival, and having a Pay2win button added by the developers themselves in a survival game, is stone cold retarded. Just having it there in a menu itself would annoy me beyond belief.
Get a clue, these developers aren't fooling anyone. I would go so far as to say they're as bad as the WarZ developers at this point.
So I went back into origin, backspaced my credit card information. Closed origin, then uninstalled origin.
How bout them apples? I won't support this kind of bs. Nobody wants microtransactions. Games that use them suck, as they purposely poke and prod you into using it all the time on purpose making the gameplay crap. Even that aside, what would interest the mobile gaming croud or F2P crowd in a hardcore game like dead space that is based on horror and survival when they're paying 60 dollars to play the game lmao...? This is up there on the level where WarZ is at the moment, where you stop and go... "Wow, this can't be real, because it's just that dumb." The developers aren't catering micro-transactions to anyone, the only thing they're catering it to is their wallets. It's just stupidity, and having such a feature is automatically giving this games title a bad rep in my book. At this point, the dead space games are pretty much dead to me. I'm going to forget they even existed at all.
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love dead space 1 and 2. I even purchased the book and watched the animated movies. But yeah, I'm not buying this game on principles alone now, otherwise I would feel like a complete dumbass and a tool if I bought the game knowing this now.
I DO NOT SUPPORT BULL**** OBVIOUS MONEY GRABS THAT CAN, AND WILL, AFFECT GAMEPLAY; OR GAME MECHANICS THAT DO NOT OR SHOULD NOT BE IN THE GAME ITSELF SUCH AS A Pay2win BUTTON IN A SURVIVAL HORROR GAME. PEOPLE THAT PLAY F2P OR MOBILE GAMES AREN'T GOING TO USE MICRO-TRANSACTIONS IN A GAME THEY PAID 60 DOLLARS FOR, MORONS.
Keep your micro-transaction bull**** and go put it in a F2P or "mobile" game where it belongs in the first place. Idiot devs.
I'll be enjoying the dragonborn skyrim DLC on the 5th, even though I'll most definitely be thinking about (and feeling bad) for all the poor saps who bought this game.
