@sargentd said:

@Serraph105: I haven't heard of any states trying to make abortion pills illegal. Heartbeat bill wouldn't apply for the abortion pill.

By the time it has a heart beat you gotta have them pull their arms and legs off and vaccum them out. Pill doesn't work at that point.

A heartbeat is at 6 weeks, and the abortion pills can be used up to 10 weeks. That said, you are absolutely correct in the sense that this will still leave many women without options that they have a human right to if Roe gets gutted. It's still good to see the Biden administration make end runs around this sort of 1940s era bullshit, but we clearly need to do more to keep our rights intact.

Thanks to changes made by the FDA, doctors may now permanently screen patients via telemedicine and send the medicine to the people prescribed through the mail.

https://www.kuow.org/stories/fda-relaxes-restrictions-on-abortion-pill

This is an incredibly important step in protecting women's constitutional rights at a time when Roe v Wade is on the cusp of getting gutted. Patients in states where abortion becomes illegal (if it does) will be able to see doctors in states, and overseas, where they can be prescribed and sent the medicine they need.

Now we need to make sure that they are inexpensive and easy to get.

@mattbbpl: that's true. The SCOTUS could make up any reason to support this style of law in the instance of abortion, but not for guns and their word is the final say on the matter.

I feel like I've asked this before, but what else can we extend this to? So far I see abortion, guns, and carbon.

Ah yes. Your constitutional rights are now up to the discretion of the states that you happen to be in at the time. I hope that outcome is worth it to control what women can and cannot do with their own bodies.
