@silentchief: Republicans had 17 candidates running for president in 2016. Why did the democrats make them choose Trump in the primaries?

@yessir: I think you would be interested in this short podcast series by Robert Evans. It's about whether another American Civil War could happen, and what it would look like if it did.
@silentchief: "I'm just laughing at all the people that are suddenly against rioting and respecting government property."
I couldn't care less about the property tbh, but, unlike the protests in Portland, people died. Worse yet, people in Portland were protesting police brutality and their ability to kill black people for no reason without consequence. People in DC were trying to overthrow an election and destroy democracy, and it was apparently incited by Trump himself that very day.
@rmiller365: "Apparently, the Twitter in chief has condemned the violence and called in the national guard in"
No, Mike Pence called in the national guard.
@Baconstrip78: "GOP being Trumps party ended yesterday."
I don't think that this prediction will end up being true. Trump's got a personality cult going. The people who support him aren't going to stop anytime soon. That's my prediction anyway.
Trump has spent his time sowing discord, taking advantage of divisions in society, and undermining democracy. Even in his video yesterday telling people to go home he also embraced the people who did this, and make no mistake, this was terrorism. A woman was shot and killed, a pipe bomb had to be defused, congressman were evacuated from capitol hill to an undisclosed location in essence, things got tense and shit went down, and Trump was whipping up anger, literally the same day, at a rally of his telling people that they were going to march down to the capitol.
More than that though, Trump's strategy to win the election was to cast doubt on the fairness of the election, he told people for months that there would be massive amounts of fraud, and then, after the election, told people that there was fraud, based on zero evidence. This is a clear way to undermine democracy, and he did so not for the country, but for his own personal gain. He has also spent his time embracing hate groups like the KKK ("very fine people") and the Proud Boys throughout his four years, even telling the Proud Boys to stand by during the nationally televised presidential debate.
It's easy to look the other way before shit blows up saying things like, "It's nothing to worry about," or It's just rhetoric, but actions don't reflect the words so calm down." However, Trump spent his time attacking immigrants, and anyone who happened to be non-white, and sowing strife, anger, and chaos. That's what Trump reaped yesterday, as did the country, strife, anger, and chaos, and I don't think it's going to go away any time soon.
@Master_Live: he's seriously still stoking the fires. It's fucking unbelievable, when I should really just expect it at this point.
@NathanDrakeSwag: a woman got shot.
Fox News be like, "Terrorists have stormed capit......What's that? You say it's white, right wing activists? Update, we're being told that patriotic voters are asking nicely for a play date with congress."
