really think the portrayals of women in games are getting better and better. Kat from Gravity Rush, Aveline from Assassin's Creed 3 : Liberation and Jodie Holms from Beyond : Two Souls are brand new female-lead protagnists in games, and from the looks of it, good ones as well. and the reboot'd Tomb Raider looks amazing.

and i plan on getting all four (already got Gravity Rush).

That said though, i'll be damned if i can't enjoy any future Chun Li's or other sexualized women merely because someone somewhere is gonna be upset somewhere. If women of the world playing games in the future get to oggle the standard male protagonists. I don't think i ever got upset when women get excited over the Jacobs and Edwards of the world, because i know precisely what those tropes are for.

and don't - anyone who dares to complain - don't you dare attack my lizard brain enjoyment out of it, you get your jollies out of your men/women as well whether your straight or not you do out of something.

vast majority of men are an idealized form of men, both physically and mentally. In many ways impossible to achieve. Men don't complain about these issues, so is it a case of low-self esteem? or is it because of the portrayal of men is not based on power derived from sexuality? If straight female gamers get to continue to get their kicks out of the strong male archetypes, what about the males?

I know that's a male problem, not a female one i guess.

again the equality is awesome.

games like every other medium is a means of escape, please do not out your attempt to make things better lose sight of this one important aspect.

Often times when i hear the argument of sexism in games, i hear crying wolf. Where if women don't fit a specific viewpoint then it's somehow to imply something misogynistic. I heard the argument against the new Tomb Raider, because she gets hurt too much yet this is before she becomes the great Tomb Raider, and frankly will likely tell a better story then anything Nathan Drake has tried doing. and i've read that Lightning (from FF13) lacked any femininity about her and thus was just basically Cloud but a chick version. That female poses in fighting games are sexualized and the male stance is about 'power' (really?....). It's a can't win scenario.

the joke poster of Avengers accusing the the poster of putting Black Widow in a sexualized pose just made me lol. because if we show her in any pose, her rear or her chest will be showing in some prominent way, and in any way they could of posed her to match her compatriots would of been deemed sexist to someone somewhere. like i said, can't win.

I'm fairly crossed. the game looks great. but then i didn't enjoy Far Cry 1 or 2. Far Cry 2 mostly because of how fast the enemies respawned was beyond annoying.

Seems like i'll have to rent it to see if i actually wanna buy it.

to be honest i think Poison is awesome and it's rare that there are homosexual characters in games much less transgenders. It always bugged me how Capcom treated her depending on what country she was in. she's transgender in Japan, but in America it's "guys.. totally don't worry about it, it's a chick". I'd also like to mention i loved the character Erica in Catherine. Then again i like transgender people so.. yeah. anyways, great article and keep up the good work Caro!

I love CGI trailers... but i never use it as a measure to get excited for the game. just from an short artistic perspective, I really enjoy them.

@Unfallen_Satan pretty much summed up my thoughts.
