@CoolCamel616 Tales of Xillia 2 should be hitting America this year.
@kurbstar @Sargus @DamnILoveGames I literally have no stake whatsoever in how many hits this review does or doesn't get. It's not a metric I track or benefit from in this case.
@kurbstar @DamnILoveGames Would it make you feel better if I told you that even if there wasn't a single bit of fan service that made me uncomfortable, my criticisms about the combat and relationship building would be exactly the same?
@proffesorhakase @DamnILoveGames Author of the review here. What makes you sure that I didn't spend 50+ hours with Conception II? I'll be upfront and say it was probably closer to 40 hours in my case (hard to say for certain because I swapped between save files a few times to see the results of different dialogue choices), but that included seeing most of the relationship plots through to the end and completing most of the optional side labyrinths. I don't see how you could wrangle "1000 hours" out of it, so I wouldn't buy it if that's what you're expecting.Side note: I was definitely interested in exploring dungeons and getting to know the heroines (I had a soft spot for Chloe, though Fuuko's story was more interesting) but was disappointed in how easy and uneventful it all was. That is, I feel, reflected in the text and in the score.
And yeah, I'd personally rather play Lunar than Neptunia. Sorry, I guess? You may end up enjoying Conception II a lot more than I did. That's OK. Nothing wrong with that.
You're probably right, I should have convinced my wife to have a child before I wrote this review. That process only takes about a week, right?
@Hurvl Interesting. Thanks for sharing that detail.
@iamllamapie @Dannystaples14 In my defense, I don't love all indie games (example: http://www.gamespot.com/reviews/darkout-review/1900-6415594/ ), and I also love a lot of "AAA" games (example: http://popcultureblog.dallasnews.com/2013/11/a-link-between-worlds-is-the-legend-of-zelda-at-its-2d-finest.html/ ).
I review games, not developers. Whether a game comes from a big studio or a small developer is irrelevant. It doesn't matter who makes the game if it's good. But hey, if you ultimately decide to skip reviews just because I write them, more power to you.
@Gelugon_baat @StonerDemon Also, the 8.5 score doesn't exist on GameSpot anymore. No more half point intervals.
@PaperthinTV I got the 30 minute number mostly from my own experience -- jumping into single-player was my first time ever playing Nidhogg, and I beat it in under an hour. It's possible I just found the right ways to cheese the AI, though. (I used a lot of divekicks, if that helps :-/ )
@hitomo I was not under the influence of Red Bull when playing Nidhogg or writing this review.
