Seems to me that this game would be MUCH more fun with couch co-op options, 2-4 player split screen, and even an option to play with bots (for when everybody gets bored of the game in 2 weeks and there's not enough people left to populate it). Missed opportunity.

@waltdawg443: Definitely agree with this. They completely removed the mystery surrounding him. If I recall correctly, since I haven't played it in a while, I don't think the player knew if Sephiroth was good or bad up to that point in the story. Just that he was some legendary soldier who died a few years before. When your cell door was left open and everyone was massacred in the Shinra building, and you find Sephiroth's sword in the back of President Shinra, that was a big moment in the story.

The remake nerfed this big time because the game outright tells you that Sephiroth is bad news. You don't know why yet, but he's bad and Cloud hates him.

Just prior to the fight with Rufus, I could deal with it since he was still kind of just an apparition, luring Cloud along. But then you see him again at the end of the highway chase. That's when I sighed. Here we go, they're going to make us fight Sephiroth for whatever reason. Oh right, we got completely unnecessary premonitions potentially spoiling future events for newcomers of the series.

So, not only do they make you fight Sephiroth, but you can somehow easily hold your own against him, and eventually defeat him (except you end up losing to him in a cutscene). So much for making him larger than life. Now some classic scenes won't make much sense or won't have as much of an impact in future installments. Shame.

In the end, I really do love this game, but evertyhing Sephiroth-related was a total letdown in how it was handled.

Less is more.
