Peter you are totally wrong, and Gamespot, there better be a counter point article titled "Why you SHOULD worry about Facebook buying Oculus Rift" I never put much weight into the conspiracy theory claims about Gamespot being paid off, but this article certainly raises some questions. The last thing we need in a VR simulator is a pop up that some "friend" just liked Cheetos.
True story: I had a Lucid dream about 2-3 months ago. In it I bought an X Box One, and when I was home, getting ready to open it, I asked myself in the dream, "Did I just get an X Box? I would never do that, I must be dreaming." Then I woke up. It was pretty funny, and even my wife got a kick out of it.
My verdict: The Wii U, as a piece of hardware is good. It has free online, built in video, chat, backwards compatibility, and has finally met the HD graphics standard. One more than one occasion I've switched to a football game and my son was able to continue in his quest with the game pad. There are a lot of reason I should like it, and I do. The problem is it's too far from the standard in everything else. The Wii had one gimmick for developers to contend with. (one off of center) But the Wii U only met the minimum standard graphically, has poor online stability/support, and now two gimmicks for developers to deal with ( four off from center). It's just too different from everything else. Yet when I see my boys play Mario, they find the same new fascination with it that I did as a kid. And even without great 3rd party support, there is still some really good games on it. Lego City, any of the , Scribblenaughts, Monster Hunter 3U, Sonic Racing.
It's a great system if that was the only option, but I think they just overplayed there innovation.
I agree, there are a lot of developers who have put their heart, soul, and time into building this gaming platform. I applaud them, but the XBone title is not intended to disrespect them. No, it's to disrespect the bone headed suits that thought they could turn a gaming platform into a living room, data mining, advertising spy box, so you could milk a few more dollars out of us by selling our "habits". You disrespected gamers. We returned the favor.
