Load and seek times are already slow as it is with the built-in hard drives and they only read and write at about 80 to 90 megabytes a second. Never mind the PlayStation 4 Blu-ray drive's read and write time of about 27 megabytes a second.

This makes perfect sense. The PlayStation 4 Blu-ray Drive only reads that about 27 megabytes a second. The game is about a hundred gigs in size. if you do the math that equals out to exactly about an hour of installation time.

@somberfox: You obviously didn't play the original if you think you can fully translate the game into a current gen game. It would be ginormous. The first chapter is going to be almost 100 GB on two discs.. and that's only Midgar! And you want the FULL game all at once? LOL The development costs without being able to recoup would be massive. This would EASILY be the biggest and most expensive game of all time. Not to mention video games today are almost half as profitable as they were 23 years ago. People seem to forget the original was prerendered which allowed the game to be way bigger on the PS1 than it otherwise would have.

@gamerbum: Since when does being the weaker console have anything to do with how well they do? Clearly you're young and ignorant. The PS1 was inferior to the N64 but guess which one is the best selling console of all time? The PS4 is weaker than the XB1 but guess who outsold the Xbox two to one?

It's like Xbox fanboys buy their consoles and the last thing they do is play games. The GAMES are what it's all about. Maybe if Microsoft had a decent library of exclusives you would see that instead of making yourself look like a moronic fanboy on the internet.

@just1mohr: Nice lol you keep playing your old games because that's exactly why Sony outsold the Xbox One by over two to one. I'm here to play new games. That's why I buy NEW consoles.

And to correct you, they didn't disrespect anyone. Just because Sony doesn't attend E3 doesn't mean they're not releasing information and trailers for new games. E3 is an investor's conference and seeing as how the PS4 is officially the second best selling console of all time, I'd say Sony is doing perfectly well and doesn't need to attend E3 to bring attention to future projects.

No issues at all on my end with either the launcher or the game. Averaging 80-90 FPS with a 2080 at 1440p at max balanced settings. Loving it so far.

@krazeekhujo05: You need to go back and realize how big the original was. Remember it was a pre-rendered game. Making all those predrawn areas into a fully realized 3D worlds is a huge undertaking. I have no problem with the episodic release as long as they make the game worthy.
