Hi there,

I know I have already asked in this in the PC section of the GameSpot Forum and got a suggestion from a forum user but I was wondering whether anyone could help me to resolve this issue, basically I'm trying to get Doom Collector's Edition to work in Windows 8.1 Pro and when I launch Doom95 it comes up with the following message "The ordinal 1 could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Program Files (x86)\DOOM Collector's Edition\Doom2\doomlnch.dll." followed by "Unable to initialize 'doomlnch.dll'." after clicking OK to message and terminates after clicking OK again, I've had success with getting it to work with Operating Systems ranging from Windows 95 to Windows 7 in the past but when getting it to work in Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 I can't get it to launch nor can I find any suggestions on the Internet to resolve this issue. Your help would be much appreciated.

Kind regards,

RocknRollTim

P.S. I was advised by a user off the Microsoft Community forum to contact this page for additional support.

Update

Eliminated the first message when running program as Administrator and compatibility mode for Windows 95, 98 and Me but the second message still appears though, I'll try replacing doomlnch.dll to see if that works before purchasing the original versions of Doom in order to get them to work inside of Dosbox.

Also replacing doomlnch.dll didn't make any difference to eliminate the second message in Windows 8.1 and Window 10. Doom Collector's Edition launches without the issues in Windows 8 that Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 encounter as mentioned previously, either I rollback to Windows 8, purchase original versions of Doom, use an emulator that supports Doom Collector's Edition, purchase steam engine version of Doom or modify doomlnch.dll file for Windows 8.1, for Windows 10 I need to discover another method and will keep experimenting.

Update

After installing Doom Collector's Edition in Windows 10 regardless of which version installed just like previous versions of Windows except when launching with and without compatibility settings the following message appears "The program can't start because C:\Program Files (x86)\DOOM Collector's Edition\Doom 2\DOOM95.EXE is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

P.S. I will take these troubleshooting steps into consideration when testing Doom Collector's Edition on Windows 10.

Dear Forum Users,

Everytime I come to insert the Tomb Raider Angel Of Darkness CD into the DVD ROM drive of my computer, the License Agreement keeps re-appearing everytime the navigation system appears for the game, even after the installation when I do not need to do as I have already agreed to the License Agreement to install the game. If you can help me with my enquiry I would be most grateful as I will be able to eliminate these problems once and for all.

Many Thanks,

RocknRollTim :)

Dear Kamikaze Pigmy,

I have searched extensively through various search engines on the World Wide Web such as Google, but I am still unable to find the answer to my question and is now becoming quite a daunting task as I have been searching for days with no information of how to achieve this task. If you have anymore suggestions or know someone else on the forum who will be willing to help me, please send me a thread immediately as I will want to entertain my friends on Sunday with some old classic first person shooter games on the computers, which of course they will want to play free-for-all deathmatches.

Many Thanks,

RocknRollTim :)

Dear Forum Users,

How do I setup a LAN or server game without using the Gunman Chronicles disk? Also every time I try to launch a LAN or server game on my laptop, my computer is unable to join or to connect the LAN or server game and vice versa. If you can help me with my enquiries in relation to Gunman Chronicles, I would be most grateful as I will be able to get down to the bottom of this problem once and for all.

Many Thanks,

RocknRollTim :)
