@brxricano: agreed, I'm not buying a PS5 for this like I did a PS4 for HZD. I feel comfortable waiting and seeing about a PC release, which is far superior.

HZD is one of my favorite narrative games.

@ntstambo2: that's fine and maybe the items are as jarring as the reviewer states.

I'm just picking up on what reads like a very weak effort to grapple with her own biases. When it comes to a title as big as this you have to take every step you can to seem impartial. I dont think the reviewer accomplished that.

I'm a bit ambivalent about this review. It seems like the reviewer focused very heavily on the setting, story and aesthetics, and that none of those things were in line with her personal preferences.

Everything else aside, that's what really came through for me. The actual combat and gameplay sounds like it's pretty good.

So honestly this review doesn't really give me much insight. It's very bloggy and focuses on subjective interpretation far too heavily. I get that's a big part of any review, but I don't feel like the reviewer grappled with her own preconceptions enough to provide a clear impression of the game.

This was an easy flop to see coming from a long way out.

Generic, boring, uninspired.

Microsoft is clearly using Gamepass in an attempt to disembowel Sony.

And when the next Elder Scrolls game releases as an exclusive day 1 to subscribers, the first deep slice will be made.

Microsoft can eat the loss if they claw back market share. I hope they do.

Doom Eternal forever.

It wont win, but it's the best game on that list by miles.

Unacceptable and embarrassing.

The game was released in a poor state. Count me out for any future titles from Amazon and co.

@kickrockser: she did, but dying doesnt really matter in MK.

I mean Sub-Zero and Liu Kang have died like at least 2-3 times each.

I think MS and Sony are starting to realize that they're facilitating a medium that will exist with or without them. In that regard, it's less about innovating and more about providing the channel by which people choose to consume games.

Taking on new tech and forcing adoption by 3rd party devs is expensive and risky, and, in most instances we've seen that arent VR, limited to first party projects. It gets attention but it doesnt hold it.

M$ and Sony seem content just being the gateway leveraging capability and access rather than innovation. It's the next step in the gradual dissolution of console brands, which is long overdue.
