Meh, as long as the maps are free to download this doesn't matter. Another solution would be to include a second "maps" disc that loads to hard drive the first time you play the game. The cost of the 2nd disc is pennies per, as is the double DVD case.

My 360 just got the RRoD after 7 months of flawless operation. The manufactured date was 03/06/2007. I just sent it back for repair so we'll see how that goes. I bought an Elite the day after it went down. I was looking for another Media Center extender anyway and the decent ones are $300+. I couldn't be without a 360 when Madden came out. I think I'd literally get the shakes. I love the "just get a PS3" comments. I have nothing against the PS3 per se, I'd love to get one. There is just no compelling reason to own one. Upcoming games I want: 1) Bioshock (360 only) 2) Halo 3 (360 only) 3) Assassin's Creed (360 and PS3) 4) GTA IV (360 and PS3) Simply no reason at all yet. Hopefully Killzone 2 will live up to the hype.

I bought an Elite last week when my Premium (mfr 3/6/07) went down with the wonderful 3 red rings. Gotta love the 3-year warranty though! I was going to get a media extender for my bedroom anyway for $300 so I figured why not just get another 360. This way I don't have to wait for the repair to play Madden or Halo 3 until they get around to repairing it. Anyway, I digress...the Premium systems they had did have the HDMI logo on the box, but I do not believe they come with an HDMI cable like the Elite does. Can anyone confirm this?

PROS: It looks pretty, searching is much improved, seems very stable CONS: Memory hog (useless for power users without 2GB RAM), driver compatibility, sucks for current-gen games and DX9 graphics cards (likely a driver issue) Unless you are putting together a new machine, there is really no reason to upgrade to Vista. Overall I find it to be considerably slower than XP, even though the specs on my machine are very strong. Vista will be more useful as the drivers get better and the bugs are refined but, for now, stick with XP if possible.

Annex is cool, definitely different. The kills in Annex can't count towards achievements because of the respawning. Who cares about achievements anyway? They don't actually DO anything for you at all except act as uber-dork bragging rights.

The updates have been great so far. I'd like AIM chat added in addition to the Windows Live Messenger. I just don't know a single person that uses WLM, everyone uses AIM.

No idea, but if you're not afraid of opening your controller up it can be fixed quite easy with a dremel tool or even just plan sandpaper. The problem on the 360 controller dpad is just that the plastic circle surrounding the actual pad is to close. If you dremel or sand that back it will work flawlessly.rgsniper1
Yeah, I sanded mine down and was astonished at how nice it is since. SFII on XBLA actually became playable. A word to the wise though, use a very fine grain of sandpaper and go pretty easy on it. Better to have to sand it down more than to realize you did too much.

I have a Samsung 26" Tube HDTV. The factory settings are aout of whack for regular viewing but for DVD the Dunamic is pretty close. I have Sound and Vision's TV Home Theater set-up DVD and I use tha for setting up my TV. It works really well. That may be of some help to you.marksman77
I have a 32" Samsung Tube HDTV and use that same calibration disc...works like a charm. I have to say that despite having two TVs that are far more expensive than the Samsung CRT, it still has the best overall picture that I've ever seen.
